Eh, for most it'll be "ooo plushy". Traverse/Acadia/Enclave are the same way.. well, except for Acadia which I hated the odd shaping/design decision of the dash which ate my knees for lunch no matter how I adjusted the passenger seat.

If they don't gouge the piss out of the price we may lease/buy one.

It's a Unibody blah blah blah. So is the Grand Cherokee and the extremely capable Land Rovers. Anyone who thinks this Explorer will not be a success is just a Ford hater and refuses to admit that this truck fits exactly where it should be for the buying public.
Gaaaahhh! it's a CUV, not a truck!!!

You may call it a CUV but the majority of buyers will call it a truck/SUV. I know it's hard to accept but that is just the hard truth. Much like the way people argue over pony car or muscle car this will inherently be called a truck/SUV by most buyers.

I've had a lot of explorers and I never called any of them a truck ,but I do agree with you that what ever the hell you want to call it, it's and awesome unit.

Ford has ruined the Explorer. I had two of them in college and loved them. The explorer was still a truck but was the perfect size. It was a tough little truck too. This thing is terrible. It looks like a 2nd gen TaurusX. How many crossovers can Ford have? Escape, Flex, Edge and now this??? Seems like they have created a lot of inter brand competition. I'm glad we bought the Equinox when we did and didn't wait for this to come out like I wanted to. That is not what an explorer should look like. They really didn't increase the mpg's that much by by going uni-body and FWD either. I would buy a new Grand Cherokee if I were looking for an SUV for myself. This is a fail IMO.

This is a nice vehicle, but it is not an Explorer. And, why does Ford need another FWD crossover?

Its a Crossover and not an SUV.
Crossover= car chasis, FWD
SUV= Truck chasis, RWD.

But in any case, I like it. Since it is a crossover now Ford has placed it in a Highly competitive segment though. But from the looks of it, I think Ford has a winner IMO.

For those fretting the loss of the Explorer as a 'real' suv take heart, it is already known that the Expedition will be returning to the F-150 platform for the next gen model, which means real, hard-core, off-road capabilit y will be returning to a Ford built suv for the first time in a while. Even better, one of the better known, and more accurate, insiders on another site has already pointed out that the F-150 Raptors specialized bits transfer over very easily to that model and that Ford is indeed seriously considering a Raptor-ized version of the new Expedition.

An Explorer for the soccer moms and a possible 'Raptor' Expedition for dad. Seems like a win-win situation to me.

Your statement is totally wrong. The Grand Cherokee is the why the term SUV exist ,and it was never built on a truck frame.

Not to mention the highly capable UNIBODY Land Rovers.

Things get a little mixed up with unibody + RWD, the jury is still out on those. Regardless, there are 0 SUV's that are crossovers. Every SUV is an SUV. Every CUV is a CUV.
