Yeah, I have thought about that. I did a google search trying to find places in the little towns I pass through going to/from work but did not have any success with that. There is a place close to my work that looks to be a tiny gym (may be bigger than it looks from the outside?) that I plan to stop buy one day after work when I can to see what they have to offer. I'm a bit sceptical as it looks like maybe a weight loss clinic of some sort next door, but we shall see. I also remembered a huge gym that is not on the way but would just be a little out of the way that I need to check into. I'm thinking more after work though. LOL at before work. I am NOT a morning preson at ALL. I am usually running late as it is.

I did some more hall walking this morning BTW.

Morning or night doesn't matter. It is more of getting it done before you get home and distracted from all the other things that will suck up your time.

I like to keep things simple. I try to not eat processed junk. I have grilled salmon four or five times a week, with tons of vegetables. One or two pieces of fruit a day, it's a lot of sugar even if its natural sugar, and some mixed nuts & raisins for a snack.

Breakfast is oatmeal w/a scoop of vanilla protein mixed in plus a chopped up banana and a small handful of raisins. Plus a splash of almond milk, the banana, protein, and raisins sweeten up the oatmeal perfectly.

I also try to keep the carbs down, pasta or bread once in awhile, but not everyday. I also start dinner w/a huge salad, everyday, then fish, chicken, or beef, but I keep beef to only once a week or so. Veggies as much as I can eat, and I do love my veggies!

Saturday we go out for dinner and anything goes including indulging in a desert!

Works for me, I'm never hungry unless its dinner time. I also try not to eat mindlessly out of boredom. I exercise regularly, lots of stretching and some free weights, nothing heavy like back in the old days. Finish w/some cardio. I love my workouts, great stress reliever and it just makes me feel Great!

This is pretty much how I eat. Breakfast is almost the same except I add one whole egg and 1/2 cup strawberries instead of raisons. I though I was the only one who adds a scoop of vanilla protein to my oatmeal. lol

I have been alternating my breakfast between 2 scrambled eggs with onions & green peppers some days & Oatmeal with a scoop of powdered milk (can't handle the taste of the protein powder in it), a tablespoon of chopped walnuts, 1/2 a banana & either cherries, blueberries or strawberries and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon the other days. Then my banana pancakes on the weekends.

I did some exercising when I got up this morning, hall walking about 10:30, some calf raises, squats & such around 2:00. It is a good thing too because my commute was extra long due to the Titans game, Vanderbilt came & a huge concert in Nashville and I have a lot of computer work to do this evening. I better get to it or I will be up all night.

How is it going everyone? Some one suggested to me the other day that I try using monk fruit as a sweetener in place of sugar as it takes 1/2 of the amount as sugar to achieve the same goal. I very rarely eat anything that would consist of me adding sugar. The only thing that I have regularly with me adding sugar would be tea. I seen a post in the other thread where some one said something about sweet tea but I only use a cup of sugar where that person said they used 1.75 cups for a gallon of tea. Any input on the monk fruit?

Haven't heard of it...but try stevia/truvia for sugar replacement

Never tried monk fruit but I sometimes use bananas for natural sweetener.

I am a little sore & really sleepy this morning so something I am doing must be making a difference. I have a slow day scheduled so maybe & can manage t do a little exercising at work today. The office I work in on Fridays does not have as much room to move about but I will make the best of it. Have a good Friday everyone.

For hat it's worth, here's my thoughts on sweeteners. As mentioned before there have been studies on the addictivenes of sugar in humans, although not yet proven, the studies are leading in that direction. It has been shown that you develope cravings for them. With that said, rather than finding alterntives to processed sugar, although a better choice, you will not diminish the cravings for them, resulting in "Cheating" with bad choices. It's like giving methadone to a heroin addict, perhaps not as bad but still a drug addict. Rather than finding alternative sweeteners, kick the habbit, once you do you will no longer have the cravings, in fact sweet foods will be somewhat repulsive. Personally, I used to eat anything and everything sweet, my coffee, which I drink way to much of, was always black with sugar, now if my coffe even has a hint of sugar I can sense it before even taking a sip and cannot stand the taste of it. Many sweet foods have lost their appeal. Rather than finding substitues for sugar, kick the habbit.

Forgot to mention Water water water, I love water and easily drink a gallon a day! Sometimes I'll take a wedge of lemon and squeeze in some lemon juice. Or since I'm an Old Soul, people at work see me getting a cup of hot water and they think I'm making tea or something, but I also love drinking a hot cup of water! Funny cause when I tell them that they'll look at me and say "hey my Grandmother use to do that".

All I drink is water and coffee and lots of both. Lol

Drinking warm water, especially before a meal, has a thermogenic effect and increases metobolism and digestion

I'll stick with cold water though.

I totally understand the logic here. Here's the rub. You can't give up EVERYTHNG! Okay so now for me, NO gluten, no hydrogenated oil, limit saturated fat, no added food colorings, chemical preservatives, no chemical additives; It would be nice to avoid meats from animals fed steroids & antibiotics but that is pretty hard currently. No added potassium (naturally occurring is fine), limit salt, limit simple carbs,...........I'm sure I'm forgetting some but you get the picture. To totally eliminate sugar would mean no fruit, no tomatos, no carrots (and a number of other vegetables), no corn, again, I'm sure I am leaving out a number of otherwise healthy foods with naturally occurring sugars. I just don't see giving up sugar totally as being a practical or healthy alternative. Foods with naturally occurring sugars have way too many other health benefits to make giving them up wise IMHO. And foods need to be tasty & satisfying if you are going to stick to healthy eating as a lifestyle. I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams eating oatmeal without something sweet in it. That would simply be repulsive to me.

Okay, blast away.
