I would have bought the SS over the V. The Malibu is an affordable average Joe sedan. The SS is a RWD, V8 powered, American (well, Chevy badged) sport sedan just like the CTS-V, Challenger and 300. Sure the V is more upscale than the others but the technology/infotainment in the SS is much improved over the current V.

If the SS were an option when I bought the V, I would have saved the $20k and dropped a supercharger in the SS. Hell, even without the supercharger it would be a great 4-door daily driver!

Add the right hand steering and the SS would be very cool.

So you guys think GM spent millions and millions to simply say "see!"

It is intended to make money but NOT at the expense of Impala.

If they had called the Camaro just SS instead of Camaro would you write it off too?
I hear ya. I'm not completely writing it off but come on GM, really? I mean really? SS was the best you could do after diluting the trim on other less deserving models (excluding the Camaro) for years.

White looks fine (to me at least)

It's the same thing. People mostly think there is a big difference because they see the Orange Metallic (show car color only) SS-V concept. Truth is these are the only changes:

1) Badges

2) Bumper insert/DRL-fog light surround/rear diffuser is matte/flat black instead of a high gloss

3) Quad tip exhaust for the SS V compared to single tip dual exhaust for the Chevy SS

4) Wheels. The custom finished billet aluminum black 20 inch wheels on the SS-V look better than the 19 inch forged aluminum wheels on the SS

5) Color. The very nice Metallic Orange on the SS-V compared to the Silver Ice Metallic that is shown on the SS

-Just paint the matte black parts gloss black

-Get some quad exhaust tips (like a lot of Camaro owners went to ZL1/1LE quad tips)

larger wheels (I think the ZL1 wheels would look good on it)

And it'll be back to the Holden people loved

You'd be better off getting a used G8 GT. The Caprice PPV is heavier and slightly less powerful than a G8.

The extra length on the Caprice makes it look longer than train smoke

and the rear will have it mistaken for a current Impala all the time

Then there's the interior

Hopefully you wouldn't get one beat on like the police around here love to beat on these Caprices! It's like they're flying everywhere since they're not in 250 hp Crown Vics anymore!

I want to, but I just can't feel the SS. I'm sure it'll be great for the family guy that wants to haul groceries and the kids in a sporty kind of way. I give GM an A for effort though.

You already got it, the 2014 Cadillac XTS

Twin Turbo
AWD
410hp

THIS is the reason you'll never see a Impala SS with similar hardware
