So how exactly did they destroy it? The 2014 is by far the nicest car in Chevy's lineup next to the ZL1 Camaro. It's 1000 times nicer than a 96 and most likely faster too. The impala is a family car. Back in the 60's they made a few with some muscle but after that just a family car including the 96. I would never own a 96 but I just may buy a 2014 LTZ.

This^ That is the only similarity I see in the two cars. The Chevy are more creases/sharp lines to it, whereas the Buick has more of flowing rounded look to it.

After the SS goes away, I think it would make sense if the next generation Impala was more distinct from the Malibu by being V6 RWD with an optional LT1 V8. I think Chevy is somewhat underestimating how many buyers out there have "graduated" from the Camaro (meaning they settled down and started a family) but still want something kind of quick but that don't have Cadillac-type money.
