So how exactly did they destroy it? The 2014 is by far the nicest car in Chevy's lineup next to the ZL1 Camaro. It's 1000 times nicer than a 96 and most likely faster too. The impala is a family car. Back in the 60's they made a few with some muscle but after that just a family car including the 96. I would never own a 96 but I just may buy a 2014 LTZ.

No Impala coupes in the works outside the world of Photoshop.

If by 'custom made' you mean photoshoped, then sure.

Lol, you will will see more ladies driving them then a 96 ss . New impala are more gurlie looking to me, grocery getter bit nothing wrong with that though drive what you look good in. So you're saying the corvettes are not one of the nicest and all camaros aren't neither.? Or the Chevy ss

This^ That is the only similarity I see in the two cars. The Chevy are more creases/sharp lines to it, whereas the Buick has more of flowing rounded look to it.

After the SS goes away, I think it would make sense if the next generation Impala was more distinct from the Malibu by being V6 RWD with an optional LT1 V8. I think Chevy is somewhat underestimating how many buyers out there have "graduated" from the Camaro (meaning they settled down and started a family) but still want something kind of quick but that don't have Cadillac-type money.

Heck, why we're at it, why not a SWB Alpha Camaro (which we're getting) as well as a Zeta II Impala sedan and coupe?

After the 96, these other Impalas are a joke. I think they should have made they Impalas just as exclusive with design and build as they do with the Camaro. Impala is just another malibu now. :-/
I had a 1996 also it was an incredible car. They stopped making it so they could make Blazers. That was a national tragedy. That car willl never be replicated
