You mean our policies are letting them do it. That's all I can say without turning this political which is a no no here.
I would love to see things vastly different with American companies on top while using American workers ,but that isn't the world we live in anymore, and it probably will never go back to that. On the other hand, I'm glad that Honda is here fulfilling a need that our American companies couldn't or wouldn't which ever you believe.

The profits go to the Shareholders, not to the parent country (per se)

American Honda primary shareholders:

http://world.honda.com/investors/stock_bond/stock/

The most recent data on Honda Motor Company of American given by e-trade, specifically denotes that Honda Motor Company of American has 1.8 billion share of common stock current issues and less than 256 million shares are held by American Shareholders, the majority are held by Japanese Trusts and Banking Institutions.

--

Where GM's primary shareholders:

http://investors.morningstar.com/own...ajor.html?t=GM

Are all American Banking and Trust institutions.

-------------

The profits from Honda most defiantly pump back into the Japanese Economy and from GM back into the American Economy..

-------------

Insofar as the Camaro being assembled in Canada, this is done because of NAFTA, (North American Free Trade Agreement) set up by George H.W. Bush in 1992. NAFTA was established to eliminate trade barriers in North America and present a more global economy (no different than the creation of the European Union).

-------------

Both have their advantages, Honda Employs American workers to build their vehicles, this pumps money back into the American economy.
GM/Ford/Chrysler Employ American and Canadian and Mexican workers and pump money into the North American Economy, as we all rely on each other in the long run anyway.
Toyota and Honda have over 400,000 Americans employed in 29 plants across the USA, with a combined investment over of $34 billion in 2011.

How is that NOT good for America?

Regardless of whether the profits land in the pockets of an American or a Japanese investors, as long as they are investing money back into the American economy and in American workers, we all benefit.

---

That being said, I have only ever bought American cars and that is not likely to change. There is NOTHING produced by any Japanese or German manufacturers that appeal to me..

there is a reason why other car manufacturers use the Accord as the benchmark in non-luxury sedans.. you made a good purchase

The dream in which I sold my Camaro and got one of those (insert name of almost any other car under $50,000) FEELS about the same as the dream in which I arrive at work and then notice that I have forgotten to install pants.

That sounds about right lol!
very bad dream indeed.

I will ALWAYS have at least 1 toy in my garage. I refuse to drive a generic grocery getter.

I may have one but there will always be something wicked on the other side of the garage.

Oh I do bro.. I'm an IT Administrator nearly all even administrator jobs are offshore now.
only lower rate NOC monkeys and Desktop peeps are needed locally now.
makes my line of work very hard to get a good position,
Which Is why I left big corporate America and went with a small grass roots company that has a more family value system and never outsources.

J/k man. You gotta do what you gotta do. An SS is far from an ideal DD. Enjoy the new car, hopefully you won't have to drive it

I don't get the Honda's appeal. I know all that stuff they talk about the resale value but that is beacuse they don't do fleet sales and there are less used ones. I think the the Verano, Malibu, Cruze and Lacrosse are all nicer cars. Exterior and Interior. Just my opinion.
What matters is your wife's opinion if she likes it and likes driving it more power to her.
