No disagreement on the F-body as I owned the 79 Blue Mustang Cobra of that era, though it had the small 4 cylinder engine M4 with the turbo package. Not alot of HP but a bit of fun when the turbo kicked in though it primarily helped on highway passing. It came at the tail end of the 70's yes, but the bulk of the mustangs in that decade sucked. I believe it actually saved Mustang from being gone by the way of the dinosaurs and was indeed a car that turned heads due to the radical design change.

Corvette engineers did quite a good power team on the 1975-80 L82 350 4 speed, all things considered. R&T got 0-60 in 7.7 seconds 16 second 1/4 flat in 1979, not bad for the era and 1/2 the price of a Porsche 911 SC. Although the 911 SC took 6.7 seconds.

What people forget is that the '60s were full of crummy cars too. Nostalgia makes us think every other car was a 427 Vette or a 440 Road Runner, but that's just fantasy. The only difference between crappy '70s cars and crappy '60s cars is that the '60s cars had no smog stuff. Well, some Cali models did at the end of the '60s.

Rate some of those engines from 1970 with net hp ratings instead of gross, and you aren't seeing "450" hp engines any more. The lower compression and crap gas didn't help but don't forget that net hp was the order of the day circa '71+

1972 Road Runner, I love the new concept design for it and would probably be next next purchase if it would happen.

The start of the 70's was our last grasp on great classic cars. The end of the 70's was a preview of the disaster called the 80's and 90's.

That car was ahead of its time.
Ill never forget seeing that giant wing.
Only the Plymouth Superbird and Dodge Daytona had the wing.

Having to line up a Subaru for the Porsche 928 to race in Risky Business (movie) was a pretty sad indication of the times! That, and the fact the 928 resembled a squashed Pacer, just went to show how good looking and sleek the Trans Am was.
