NOW on a side note. Why would you bring your 3 month old baby to an extremely loud action movie?

Movie Theaters = same thing as a day care.

TAKE the baby to a KIDS movie, not something that is basically R rated.

I have been looking for a good CCW for a few months now. This just makes me want to get one even more.

I haven't had my CC permit for about 5 years now. I'll be going and getting it again on Monday. Home protection for me has been fine...but I feel I'm going to need to start carrying in public now and hitting the range on a more regular basis.

It is also interesting that most people smelled smoke, heard popping sounds and saw flashes of light, but STILL didn't think anything was wrong, and just ignored it and kept watching the movie assuming it would just "go away".

As soon as I smelled smoke I would have ran out faster than George Costanza.

what was the time between the smoke bomb and when he started shooting? couldn't have been more than a few seconds. So you have people in shock, and then hear gunfire, which most people duck for cover as their first reaction.

you make it sound like the bomb went off, and they all sat there for 10 minutes.

which i guess could have been the case, i'm not up to speed on this whole thing.

Awful news to wake up to this morning. Prison will be good for this creep. When I watched the late news last night, a theater here in Spokane had been evacuated because there was a "smoke" smell during Batman. I thought to myself that someone was going to get stupid somewhere. I had no idea how stupid.
Court hearings for idiots like this are redundant. Simply take him out and shoot him. Why waste everyone's time?
My sorrow to the families of the victims.

You're right the situation probably happened very fast and likely caught everyone off guard.

Hopefully they will explain why the shooter did this.

Take away the shooting, and I still do not understand why someone would take a baby to a movie, regardless of its rating.

A movie like Batman is going to be LOUD, which is HORRIBLE for a growing child's hearing, especially one so young.

This whole thing is just f'ed.

There was a 6 year old there too. Again, why are people bringing kids this young to an R rated violent loud movie?

Edit: OK, it's PG-13 (should have checked first).

My point stands though...WHY?

I heard that some people thought it was all part of the movie special effects, until the guy started shooting. I remember when they used to blow smoke or water mist out of the screens or sent different smells through the AC duct trying to enhance the movie experience. I guess that may be why they thought it could have been just part of the entertainment.
