it depends on how your hands are built, i have tried all those pistols and the one that fit me the best was the M&P. The XD felt like a glock which to me feels like a brick. But some of my friends really like them.I have meat hooks for hands.

So far just magazine reading, I have not got to try them for fit yet.

I have the S&W M&P 9c, it is an amazing value, especially for the price- took it to the range this past Sat and had very good groupings with it, the accuracy is very good, and had no FTE's or other such issues. Even my brother found he was much more accurate with the M&P than with his own Sig 239. The people who don't like the gun usually dislike it more for the fact it's built with a polymer grip, but it feels very well balanced when held and for concealed carry I'd rather have less weight anyhow.

I use the M&P 45 as my winter carry, and the Sig P232sl as my summer carry.
If it wasn't so darn hot here in the summer i would carry it all year long, but i worry about imprinting.around the house I usually watch TV with my Ruger GP-100 in my lap, just so people know i mean business .Oh and night my S&W 1911pd sits on the night stand, because it has the crimson trace laser sights.I dont think i could aim that well if i was awakend in the middle of the night(hence the need for a laser ).

.45, very nice! My only regret is getting the M&P in the 9 instead of the .40 or .45, it was my first handgun purchase and I didn't know at the time that the .40 had interchangeable barrels with the 9, but I'll definitely be picking up some Crimson Trace grips for it this summer along with a Remington 870

my 2 favorites at the moment

I stopped by a a friend of mines house one day for coffee. He asked if I was interested in buying any guns. The rifle had been his father in laws bench rest competition rifle. Mauser action and the rest is custom. Baush and Lomb Balvar 24 scope. When you use the set trigger you can't even breath on the firing trigger. I've missed the bullseye many times just getting lined up on target and my finger touched it. Takes some getting used to. Nobody could figure out what caliber it was. It was slightly smaller than a .22. Two different gunsmiths told me that most likely the guy had ordered his own custom dies for the lead and it wasn't something that was on the market. I had it reamed up to a 22-250. The origional owner died in 1975 and it has been sitting in my friends basement untouched since then. If anyone knows what the thing that screws onto the end of the barrel is let me know. The gunsmiths were asking me. Price I paid? $400. The scope goes between $400 and $800 on e-bay. The one gunsmith offered my $1800 before I could even pick it up out of the case. According to my bathroom scale it weighs 17 pounds. The side lever double barrel came from the same guy. Again his father in laws. It is a J.D. Dougall and sons. Best estimate I've been able to get on it is from a European internet gun club. They believe it was made around 1892. Pic shows some of the engraving. Every piece of metal including screw heads that don't show is engraved. Damascus barrels are "browned" instead of blued. Rear sight line is inlaid silver. The word "safe" on the safety is inlaid gold. I'm considering sending it off to a proof house because I'd love to be able to fire it. They will inspect it and if all is good they overload the crap out of it and fire it. IF it doesn't blow up then its good. Tough decision on whether or not to allow that to happen. Right now I have a good wall hanger. If it blows up I have nothing. Price for the double barrel you may ask? "Here take it"

To me that barrel end looks like it is missing an attachment of some sort.
Ever look at a weapon with a flash-suppressor without the flash-suppressor? Looks odd like that.

Possible. You can see that it is scarred up from something being twisted around it. My father in law (retired special forces) says thats where you screw the can on the end for those quiet jobs.

Older style suppressors (silencers) were threaded on like a screw, modern ones use a bayonet type 'click' or snap on mount. That weapon looks too old for the new type and it doesn't have threads. It could have been used to mount weights as well to balance the weapon for competition purposes.

Well that tip does screw off. The world may never know. Like I said the guy died in 1975 and my buddy said he competed with it for years. I was told by several dealers/gunsmiths that the wood used in the stock doesn't exist anymore. It is hard to shoot at the gun range with all the guys coming over to talk about it. Must be like driving a Camaro.
