This is not any different than a drunk driver hitting someone...it is all about responsibility and being in control at all times. I carry a 40cal and I ALWAYS know if my weapon is loaded or not. Plus I purchased the Springfield XDM because of the extra safety features such as the grip safety.

I 100% agree a person is given a priveldge and they choose to neglect it then I see punishement should be the same as if a drunk driver struck another car and injured a person.

I'm not in your shoes.

But if I did say something that bothered you, don't take it personally. Tons of people think the same exact way I do about guns.

If you don't believe me:

Talk to someone at random while they are sitting down inside a church, show them that have a loaded gun inside your jacket and watch what happens.
You may be right but it will never happen. If you show someone a concealed gun it is no longer concealed. Kind of misses the point.
One reason why CC licenses are good is that the "bad" people have no idea who is going to have a gun and who isn't. That's a decent deterrent.

But, so you know, people around here still remember the Denny's just North of here where that nut walked in loaded for bear and started dropping people.
A large number of folks would just be sure to sit next to me next week if they knew I was armed.

And... I'm not bothered. Its a free country. Say what you want.

What this comes down to is one simple truth. If you give enough people access to enough implements of personal destruction, they will find every way imaginable to inflict damage upon themselves and others. Short of locking up the entire human race in rubber rooms at birth, people will manage to hurt themselves and others regardless of government regulation, appeals to common sense, and the basic urge for self-preservation.

Clear the chamber every-time you pick it up and these things will never happen.
first step of the test hand them a beautiful hand gun and tell them to go ahead and squeeze the trigger. If they don't check it first they fail and cant be re-tested for at least a year. Simple as that. If your not smart enough to check the weapon then you are not smart enough to own one.

Like Tracy we grew up as hunters and my uncles were all NRA saftey instructors.. education is the key.
I'm not denying that it was the guys fault. i know it was 100% his fault. by bad luck, I was talking about a stray bullet going through a wall and hitting the preachers daughter, of all people, in the head.
