I work for a US Navy Commander OIC and before he became enlisted and rose through the ranks he was a prison guard, told us civies and rank in file that he thought it was Cool that all the prisioners called him "Boss" some time later a senior guard pulled him aside and said " I know you get a woodie being called the "Boss" but the real meaning from these guys is boss backwards is ther way of saying "Sorry Son of a Bitch"..guess its all in perspective of Who's taking to you. We now call him Sir or Commander..fridays I slip in a Yes Sir Boss I-I and watch him turn Red...lmao

Dudes, y'all need to enjoy what's said to you and said about you in good cheer. Forms of address should be accepted in the spirit they are given, even if the recipient doesn't exactly "get" the friendly nature of it. Assume it's nice, it nearly always is.

Of course there are also those always ready with a storm of abuse. Speak of the Devil, I do believe I hear my mother-in-law's broom coming in for a landing at the front door. I gotta' go, now.

I have no problem with someone not remembering my name. But when a boss uses these kinds of terms to refer to an employee whose name he d*mn well knows...he is intentionally belittling and disrespecting his/her employee.

Life is too short to work for a$$hole...time to find a new job.
