You CAN spend close to that if you want, or you can spend closer to $31k in the SS and get all of the performance. Can't do that with SRT8.

I like the Challenger, would have bought one if the wife didn't like the SS better, but it is the slowest of the 3 American Muscle cars. Now that they have a speciality version that has the same (and better!) performance ability, they had to price it way beyond what most can afford.

Bang for the buck, the Camaro and Mustang beat the Challenger hands down.

Isn't the new RT 6 speed vs a L99 a drivers race?

Its only fair since the GT vs LS3 is considered a drivers race even though the advantage goes to the GT.

Another reason why the 392 auto is quicker the the 6.1 is due to the decreased torque management in the lower gears. I remember pre production SRT-8 Jeeps spotted running mid 12's in their R&D stage but then dialed them back for the production version.

So add a more aggressive transmission calibration, reduced torque management and all that additional hp and tq and its easy to see that mid 12's are possible from the new 6.4L and not some fairy tale. I bet we will be seeing them in the 11's with sticky's shortly.

not really a specialty version, as the srt has been around for awhile...not like a zl1 or a cobra is, atleast the way I'm thinking of it.

No denying this....

On top of that, imvho comparing a maxed out ss to a base srt-8 with no options makes no sense, considering the 1SS @ 31k performes the same as the 2SS. Also a maxed out R/T cost close to 40k!!! what's the R/T competitor if its not the SS? the V6 camaro?

Correct, the SRT8 is the only true touring car of the bunch. Moves faster than the SS or GT, and everyday live-ability of a full size AMG touring car. Given the $7k difference between a SRT8 and equally optioned GT or SS, I would buy the SRT8 all day long..... However, $7k is not an insignificant amount of money, so to each his own on this one.

Nice run. Too bad a base Corvette can be had for around the same price. You could have a fairly quick SS or 5.0 for the price of this.

Off topic, but what's with all the Dodge fanboys all over this site?

probably for the same reason there are Camaro fans in Dodge forums, Mustang fans in Camaro (vice versa) forums, or M3 fans in 370z forums, etc. etc. people just like cars, period. Nothing wrong with that.

That wasn't intended to be flaming towards anyone, but this is the only forum I've been a part of where it seems like no matter what area you go into, there's some Dodge owner telling us how awesome their vehicle is.

Good run anyway for the 392. Hope to start seeing some of these around soon.

Try taking 4 or 5 people in the Vette r the mustang or Camaro even. Also when you add those mods to the Camaro or Mustang kiss your warranty goodbye....... Anyways, all great cars, they just really represent different pieces of the same pie. For me, if I was going across country, I'd want to be in a CHallenger, if I was heading to the autocross, give me a Boss or even a GT with the brembo brakes, if I want to cruise mainstreet, give me the Camaro.....

given the weight and price difference, the charger seems to be a better buy IMO

Sorry I'd take the 392 over the base vette.
