You can go down to a dealers ship and buy a new 2011 GT500 for $45k TODAY with no GG tax vs paying ADM next year on a zl1 when they come out.

All it really takes is a wider tire out back to make it look kick ass like the pic below since the performance pack GT500's are lowered.



While I prefer the stock look of the SS over the stock look of the GT they both would of required me to do some body mods right off the bat. The SS and GT both need painted ground effects, aftermarket grilles, aftermarket wheels and tires. After all of the standard modifications are done to both car's they will both look killer and get lots of compliments if that's what your after so I as well as others make their decisions based on vehicle performance since the way the vehicle looks can always be changed in an afternoon but whats underneath and how I feel behind the wheel is what really matters to me.

Chevy went with the smaller gear to avoid the gas guzzler tax with the bigger engine. ~$2000US to change it. Match the Mustang 3.73 screw and you will cream them from the word Go. With the stock gear you will pull on the GT after ~70MPH (3rd gear).

Then why are the gt's putting down slightly faster 1/4 ETs and traps if the SS is going to pull on them after 70? They still seem to have a small lead at over 110. Besides that, the fastest 1/4 numbers to be put down have been by 5.0s with either the 3.15 automatic FD, or the 3.31 base FD for the manuals. 3.73 cars are actually the slowest in the 1/4 because it necessitates another shift. Doesn't support your theory here.

I prefer the looks of the SS over the GT, and the GT is quicker, so the deciding factor might be MPG.

5.0 or SS, you can't go wrong with either one. It is only a matter of how "open minded" you are to allow yourself to see it that way.
