before I was abel to sit in the seat I had to change all 4 tires, show that I could pull the spare off the bracket on the back door and change the oil

For real driving, not just sitting in someone's lap steering.

I started driving a Willys WW2 surplus Jeep when I was ten. It was trashed and on a 1000 or so acre farm, so nothing I could hurt. No clutch or brakes, just cram it in gear and when you need to stop put it in 1st and shut it off. Good times.

On the road, when I was 14 my dad started letting me drive his '91 Cadillac Fleetwood Land Yacht Edition. I attribute this to why I have no problem driving just about anything, this thing was bigger than my mom's van, so learning to drive using a small building as a car teaches you really how to maneuver around.

Disclaimer, neither of those are the actual vehicles, I doubt anyone has pics of our sitting around anymore. The jeep is a very close representation of what the one I drove looked like.
