I was under my Jeep at the time but I refuse to listen to it.

I wouldn't normaly flame someone for accidentaly messing up. Singing in front of 150 million people must be intimidating. But she's supposed to be a pro. It's not like it was a scared little kid.

BTW, you guys wanna know how to sing the Anthem. Listen to a 6 year old sing it. THAT's how it supposed to be sung. Before all the BS gets involved.

Left out the ramparts line, revisited part of the twilight line again, and just butchered most of the words with reinventing how to pronounce them.

Worst of all times though is Whitney's version. Because it was an absolute fraud. A crack whore lip syncing to a really nice studio produced version deserves zero credit.

what about if it's her own real voice she's synced to?

A produced voice is not your own voice. In my opinion. I'd rather hear less than perfect any day, than a lip sync'd studio track.

Every time a celebrity butchers the National Anthem (and it happens a lot), I think of this . It's a shame that there is not more reverence for our "Star Spangled Banner".

as a sound engineer, i can tell you that there's "production" going on even for live performances. just about every bit of it is necessary & standard stuff: from the EQs to the compressors and FX units (verb notsomuch in an open stadium, but you get the point).

what was done to Whitney's voice in a studio for that track (assuming she wasn't singing live) don't sound like anything that wouldn't've been done live

and after watching it again, i'd bet money that that was sung live - just based on how the sound changed the few times she went off-axis of the mic

~ WARNING -LANGUAGE ~

For some reason I was reminded of this scene from one of my all time favorite movies! There is cussing, so if that may offend you, don't click! Otherwise, enjoy it...the movie was, "Slap Shot."
