Metal Slides. They were regular slides that were about 15 feet up made of metal or aluminum. (Ours was in the shape of a rocket)Usually right next to the "monkey bars" that for us were solid metal pipes welded together and you would hang backwards from them usually right above a sun hardened dirt ground while trying to pull back the metal horse on a spring and see how far you could fling your friend head over heels towards the rock wall..

Anyone remember "Dirt Clod Fights?"

I can remember as a kid getting in trouble, and my dad went out into his shop and made a paddle out of a big piece of wood...... he didn't even have to use it.... scared me straight! especially when he went over to the drill press and started drilling holes in it!

We were running around in the front yard and my wife was spraying the kids with the hose .. and "accidentally" me at times... and I knocked my daughter into my son and the both fell down in some dirt... I saw one of our less friendly neighbors shake her head as she walked by....

She's the one I don't spank my kids in front of.... You just never know...

I just refuse to raise a kid that can't deal with a little dirt in the mouth..

My dad would look at me... My mom usually was the one on a daily basis yelling at me..when my dad got involved..holy crap...

What would happen, my C5 brethren, if when we were children, we threw a tantrum..at the store...if we did not get what we wanted?

I, for one, would be dead. Not ha-ha dead..no..my mom would have stabbed me in the eye and left me in the canned food aisle

Yeah, some dip-stick (probably my brother) threw a rock, hit me on that eye socket bone just outside of your eyeball... None of us ever saw that much blood before!

... The look on their faces made the pain worth it, I knew someone was gonna get a GOOD butt bruising, and it wasn't gonna be me for a change!

Ah the memories.Riding in the way back of the family station wagon with no seat belts and no dvd players either. Geting in trouble at school, the pricipal paddling your ass and getting it again when you get home. The countless dirt clod fights we had-growed up beside my grandparents landclearing buisness and sand pit.The cousins and I used to jump off the cliffs as we called them then climb back up the tree roots hanging down every now and then one would break. All this with out helmets and we survived.

How about bb gun fights? Or, running the streets without telling our parents where we were. They were never worried about us being abducted.

We called those "speed holes". Less wind resistance = more pain on impact.
