I think that one thing that people are missing is that the bill had 52 yes votes so if it was not for the stupid ability to filibuster this bill should have passed because the majority said yes. I really hate filibusters because then it only takes 41 senators to stop something.

The next thing to remember is that Paulson has used up almost all of the initial 350 billion he was allotted. The last i saw he had 20 billion or less left and who knows how much he has spent since then. So he may go to congress and say I need the next payment of 350 billion and he can get more support if he says that he is going to give some to the Big 3. That is of course assuming that the congress comes back into session before the start of the next congress which I really doubt.

The White House is saying this morning that they are considering using TARP funds to help the Big 3. That from Fox News this morning. That's probably an effort to keep the market from falling through the floor this morning, but let's hope they can actually make that happen.

We live in a free market for a reason.. Restructuring needs to occur without the Government officials who don't know squat about cars or the auto industry being put in charge of it and mandating regulations and what not to build etc..Most people don't want hybrids, that is why they don't sell.. IMHO of course.

There has to be a little give and take on both sides for this to work. If the Congress is going to be out of session until after the first of the year then the President needs to pull rank and get their asses back in to rethink, revote and the UAW needs to humble themselves and realize how much unemployment is going to pay them when their houses get repo'ed due to not being able to make their ends meet. Congress has NO BUISNESS closing up until after the first of the year. What really pisses me off is when they all retire the amount of money they receive each year. That is SOMETHING that has to get fixed also IMHO>

What difference does it make if everyone that opposed it came from a state with a foreign owned car factory. Perhaps it gives them better insight as to what works and what doesn't. These foreign owned plants do hire americans and contribute to the local, state, and federal economy don't they. Do you honestly believe there is some cynical reason for them voting against this legislation. Lets not forget, it is only the Big 3 that are threatening bankruptcy. While the other companies are hurting from the recession, they aren't threatening to go underr at least not at the moment. So what we need to do is put our emotions aside and ask our selves, what are the foreign companies doing that prevented this from happening to them and lets convince the Big 3 to do the same. Instead of financing the same old tired business practices that got them here in the first place. You can describe insanity as, doing the same thing over and over again, while expecting different results.

For the sake of our kids and grandkids we owe it to them to fix the difficult problems now, instead of passing them off on them to fix later.
