I have put off transmission coolant line recall fix since local dealer has not done any and am afraid of issues. But if I do the recall fix I am assuming it includes a transmission flush. Have to have coolant line fix by early 2019. Maybe I should do it now.

Frustrated and getting Pi$$ed
My early model 2016 2SS developed the shudder last summer getting more pronounced over time. I took it to the dealer and they did a TC change. They didn't mention doing a triple flush so I'm guessing that wasn't done.
It was ok for approx 500 miles and then the issue started again. Once it got to the point of being pretty noticeable, i returned it to the dealer. They looked at it and gave me a copy of a doc from GM that said it was a 'normal operating condition' and did not attempt any further repair. It has now gotten to the point where it is as bad or worse then it was before the TC change. If you cruize at 45 - 55 it shudders almost constantly. I've even given up driving it due to it being too irritating to deal with. I'm going to drive 50 or 60 miles to a different dealer and see what i can done thru them. I loved my SS but have almost gotten to the point of getting rid of it. Thanks for the information Al but I really hope you can understand some of the frustration we in the community are feeling. |

My dealer had done several A8 TC changes in Corvettes so they knew exactly what was going on with my car and the tech was certain the TC had to be changed. Regardless, they had to do the triple flush and return it to me to drive 200 miles before Chevy would authorize the TC change. Could it be that your dealer only did the flush? FYI - My new TC has over 5,000 miles so far as is functioning perfect although the first on didn't start shuddering until 10,000 miles

2nd time around
Brought it in a week ago. Shop foreman wanted me to take him for a ride. I did, it happened as soon as I merged on the highway and we both looked at each other at the same time. "Yup, that's it." And it shuddered about 8 more times over a few miles at highway speeds. No question in his mind. He is very familiar with this problem and opened a formal case with GM. He is waiting on a call-back from the assigned engineer to formulate a plan since the approved fix (3 flush and new TC) didn't solve the problem. Will keep you all posted when I hear back.

Shudder on a 2018 A8
I bought a 2017 A8 V6 last Oct that definitely had the shudder problem.
I had it for 6 months then traded it an identical 2018 A8 V6 because the 2017 had paint issues. It came off the assembly line mid Feb 2018 and I got it in March. My 2018 has only 600 miles now and I felt the shudder last weekend. Believe or not I thought the shudder problem was normal until now. I thought the A8 was just too aggressive about keeping a high gear loaded for maximum EPA ratings. I remember cursing that I wish the A8 would downshift quicker to avoid all the laboring, vibration, and what felt like slippage. It happens mostly when cruising 25-30 mph in city traffic then give it some light acceleration. I get the rumble, vibration, and what feels like the car is slipping in and out of gear. Maybe someone can help me understand this but it almost feels like it is in a higher gear, then slips out of that gear into no man's land for split second, then immediately goes back into that same high gear to try again. This is slippage in the transmission right? Also, when the car is in this shudder mode, the way I can pull it out of this funk is to hit the downshift paddle twice or if there if no traffic I can floor the gas. There's no other way right ? |

If you are in cruise control, step your speed down 1mph at a time or increase it 1mph at a time. If on an incline, slow down, or hit the gas.
Neutral and back to drive. Manual shift down then back up, using paddles. My car is OK so far. But I know of 2 cars that have the A8 shudder. I've driven my friend's 2ss several times. He's been treated pretty shoddily by local dealers :( Oh, And good luck with the dealer. |

Or take it to the dealership to do the triple flush as stated in this thread.

Which has been proven to only be a band-aid by multiple people in this thread.

How many people continue to have it come back after the triple flush? Even some have it come back after the TC replacement. I know you need to be pro-GM and I am pro-GM myself I love their cars but come on man. I'm not calling anyone out and I defended Al's answer when a few of those I agree with went anti-answer because I've met Al he's an awesome dude and I know if he could give us the true fix he would.

Dropped my Camaro off at the dealership earlier in the week and they finally got to my car and they say they can't duplicate the issue, they don't feel a vibration at all. An 'A' tech and service manager both went into the car. I'm starting to wonder if I should just take the car to my personal mechanic and have him do a flush rather than depend on the dealership to do the flush, cause clearly they don't want to work nor fix the complaint.

A second opinion at another dealer would be on my list, if you’re truly experiencing the shudder. As far as A techs go, I chuckle at the reference. So what’s that mean, everyone else sucks more than him? He has spider senses and can feel vibration more than you? Recently, an “A” tech was asked to install a single piece aluminum drive shaft in my stang. 2 hours later I’m being asked where I bought the driveshaft (ford racing) I’m then told they can’t install all of the bolts, so if I want it done, they’ll install just 2 bolts of 4 necessary bolts and I can sign off on it (said by service manager) The problem, which I showed the “A” ford tech (mind you, I’m not a mechanic) He tried to start 2 of the bolts through the u joint while the joint was parallel with the differential. Jesus, we’re not talking about a rubics cube here, 2 minutes for me to figure out. With that said, get second opinion, why pay someone for something that your warranty should cover? You’ve already paid.. |

Like playing the lotto, out here in south Florida .
And they wonder why it doesn't sell well. The dealers are a part of the problem. Or maybe they sell too well and GM needs to dampen the sales |
