There are 2 different versions of the SRT8. I think this is the Premium version.

The 392 R/T is going to be a great buy. Projected to be around $37K, run 0-60 in 4 flat, low 12's in the quarter w/ the 8 speed and have a 185mph top speed. Also will be the lightest 6.4 option at around 4000#'s.

Its going to be a good year performance wise for Dodge, but Ford/Chevy will leap frog in the next year or two. It always goes in cycles.

The timing couldn't be better. There will be a void as Chevy and Ford transition into the new cars with the heavy hitters absent in the inaugural year(s).

The timing couldnt be better? Dodge is entering the game at the end of the GT500 run and near the ZL1 as well. In 1 year's time Dodge will once again be falling behind.

Meaning they will have the playground all to themselves for a few years.

The color is fantastic. Reminds me of Gurneys AAR cuda color. Can not wait for them to hit show rooms.

So compared to the stripped out 2014 SRT Core ($41,480), they are adding a more powerful 392, a ZF sourced 8-speed automatic, styling and interior updates and somehow the weight and price will be less? Please explain.

The 392 has been in inventory for years. The cost to install that over the 5.7 is around $1450 based on the cost for the 392 in the Ram. The 8 speed is coming to the whole line from the v6 up and is also in the whole brand. Probably $1200 option. The 6 speed manual is standard. Very little single model cost. The RT 392 will not have the SRT's Brembo brakes, lightweight Alcoa rims, 2 mode ads active suspension, Viper ballistic lined seats, knickback mitigation system, carbon fiber inlays and few other Srt specific items. That's the cost savings. Look at how much the Brembos add to a mustang and that's only for the fronts. Why wouldn't and rt 392 come in 10% or so cheaper than a core, it's using parts bin parts. Basically a stripper with a big motor.

Don't forget the RT base price is only $30,495. 6500 for the 392, 8 speed and fancy shaker hood is generous if you ask me. Of course I'm sure you can tack on thousands more in options if you want.
