It means just a little bit, a dab, a smidge.

Next word: meritocracy.

It means a system of government based on the notion that the well qualified and not the "well born" ought to produce the better results. It's key to the French Revolution, and it is also correct.

New word: "shebeen". Hint: it's associated with "poteen" from an earlier posting.

Well, damn me all to Hell, I overstepped myself with some Irish esoteric foolishness. A shebeen is an illegal hall where illegal poteen (whiskey) and potar (dark ale) was sold in Ireland during the 800 years of occupation by the Sassenach (English invader).

Restart word: "harpsichord".

Well, well, "harpsichord " is a piano like instrument in which the wires are plucked, not struck as in a piano. It sounds cool, but it's hella expensive!

New word: "sequoia".

Once again, I have been absent from the games a while ... and harpsichords have a very cool sound.

Sequoias are a type of tree, native to California ... not sure if they are found elsewhere ... they grow incredibly tall. If I recall correctly, my parents have a picture of a car being driven through a tunnel made in the trunk of one of them (either a sequoia or a redwood). Sequoia National Park in Cali is a VERY cool place to visit, though it has been a couple decades since I was there last.

If accepted, new word "ampul"

Are you sure there's no "e" as a last letter? If so, it means a small pre-measured amount of liquid or gas.

without the "e" is correct, though "ampule" and "ampoule" are both acceptable alternate spelling for the same word. Your definition is also correct ... frequently used for pre-measured single doses in a sealed tube.

Your word, Ivas!

I coulda sworn that we already had had this one, and that I had defined it. But as it turns out, what I was recalling was my definition of phylactery ... which is pretty similar.

A reliquary is a container for religious artifacts/relics, such as finger bones of a saint (referenced in a novel I recently read).

New word: "antiquary"
