Oh so many of the things we learned in highschool....

I mean I agree I don't' go telling everyone how much I make but in my circle of friends or even people in my industry, we do discuss a salary range often... It helps us to sort out if we are under/over/competitively paid.

Not about bragging.

Meh no biggie. Just giving you a hard time.

Around here you can talk about being under paid or whatever but its not polite to name numbers. Cause if your complaining about being underpaid and the guy next to you is like i would kill for that... Well its just not polite. Had to take all those stupid manners courses, BORING. Learned alot though.

Yes, Ma'am.

The south (NE FL) is the same.. etiquette is you don't say specifically. But a lot of times when friends are looking for jobs, and we'll try to help, we'll have to ask what are their salary requirements... So inevitably it comes out....

As a manager I know what my bosses and my employees make. Mostly because when building proposals I include their salaries in the budget...

But that's just my teeeny tiny little world. I do see the logic behind, and have followed that rule of don't talk about salary for many years...
