I would say you had a point if the pre-production version was a good bit different than the production version. This was just the cars that Ford gave out for the mags to test. Much like the 2011 5.0 that went 12.7 for Motor Trend.

Heck if I know, just seems like I have seen a lot of people with Vettes and 4th gens in their sig either hating on the Camaro or jumping to the new Mustang's defense anytime someone isn't dumping praise on it on this forum. NHRA Stocker....That is probably the quickest, though there was an actual 03 Cobra owner that went 12.4x @ 114 mph, bone stock. His name is Kenneth Risher, but it has been so long ago, that I don't remember the specifics of the run, and I *think* it was a .47 or so.

Are you going to keep your SS stock for a while? I *may* be getting an 11 5.0 this winter (other cars I'm considering are a C5 Z06 or an 08/09 LS3 C6). If so, would be fun to hook up at Beech Bend next spring. I'm not the best driver in the world, but have been known to pull a gear or two from time to time. Would be a good race, I bet.

Well...finally got my 03 back to the track.....
It's rained me out 2 weeks in a row....

Went to Muncie Dragway.....
Lowered my previous best...ran a flier!

1.994 short time
8.139 in the 1/8th @ 90.29 MPH
12.473 @ 113.83

Im pretty confident 12.4s are possible out of the Camaro stock. Great weather and a better 60' is all it will take for me. My 1.97 60' wasnt the greatest , on the same day i had a 1.91 on a previous pass. Ive noticed on my car every tenth in the 60 is worth roughly .15 in the quarter. Another plus is getting some miles on the car and breaking it in. When i went 58 I think i was between 1000-1500 and now 4000.

For now im keeping it stock (unless Chevy brings out the Z) and i sell it. I am looking to purchase some DRs on vette rims to see what i can squeeze out of it with some BITE. Yeah we could hook up sometime down thier it would make for some great racing!

The Terminators are BAD but Id put money on the new 5.0 beating the 03s best when they get some mine shaft air to run in this fall.

I think the 5.0 might squeeze it out also. Mainly because of having the live axle over the IRS of the 03 Cobra.

Thanks guys. No drive by this weekend. Spent most of it trying to resolve the swirl marks and overspray from getting a scratch on the passenger door fixed by the dealer....

I will work on it this week I promise.

5.shooow. Wow that was cleaver! Camaslooow, just as cleaver!?!? Neither is anywhere close to slow. Many tests have had each win in quarter mile. Mustang has won every test on tracks which have actual turns. All reviews have the mustang as a superior car for driving dynamics.

I personally think the exterior of the Camaro is sexier and I wasn't a fan of the mustang's rear, though it's growing on me (yeah, yeah so does a wart). The interior of the Mustang is far superior, though I like the Camaro gauges on the center console. When I was a kid my best bud had a 68 rs ss with similar gauges... love them. Oddly I had a 69 Mach 1. Old habits die hard I guess.

If you buy either car, you will have an awesome ride. I was absolutely seriously considering the Camaro SS as my next car when I registered on this site. Although at that time internet buzz about the upcoming 5.0 kept me on the fence. I've now driven each and looked at dozens. I will likely be getting my 5.0 (slooow) in the next 7 days. The hardest part is finding the options, colors, tranny.... that I want.

Again either car is one hell of a car!
