The other huge plus to a digital library is that if there's a game you want to play, and you're playing remotely on your Vita, you don't have to call the house and ask someone to swap discs.

Well with gta5 it came with a foldout map of the game. Not that I ever looked at it. I used to be much more into gaming, but when your priorities change it looses a bit of luster. I only get maybe a few games each year. I refuse to buy anything when it first comes out so I can't wait for a price drop (except gta, because you know, it's gta). I especially refuse to buy anymore capcom games because of the BS they pull with releasing a better version a few months down the line (I.e. Resident evil 5, and then the gold edition). Not to mention that resident evil 5 was almost an exact copy of RE 4. If you were OK with not getting anything when it first comes out and can wait a couple of weeks, it's usually in sale for 35 bucks, or you can get a buy 2 get 1 free deal at best buy, amazon, target etc. Plus with digital you can't trade it in.

In the past 6 months or so I traded in a bunch of stuff and have enough credit for an xbox one. I feel that gamestop is a rip off, I use to not do business with them because of their low values on trading stuff in. But when it came time for me to trade in stuff, amazon blows. Anything I send them they disagree with the condition that I select and I have them send it back. Amazon wanted to give me 64 bucks for my PS3 slim. GameStop had a promo 2 Sundays ago, 90% extra trade in credit towards a new console on hardware and 30% own software. Plus I traded in my iPhone 4 to them, gave me $134 bucks as apposed to amazon, best buy, gazelle, and verizon with their $95 dollarish estimate.

What is the value of digital content after your done playing it? $0

If there was a way to sell back the digital downloads I would be all over that. Or a half price upgrade to the next game (newest BF or COD). But at the moment the cheapest option for me is to trade old games for pre owned games. I rarely spend more than $25 on a game but I rarely by anything the day it comes out. However, I hear amazon has a PSN store to compete with sony. hopefully this will mean twice the sales.

I swore a few years ago that I would never trade in another game. The store credit they offer is BS, and the cash value is even less. Honestly, selling privately via craigslist usually nets a better return, but even then, I just stopped getting rid of games. For instance, I bought Mass Effect when it launched. I traded it in 6 months later and got $7.50 or $10 for it or something. About a year after that, ME2 was coming out and I wanted to play the first one again, so I went back and bought another used copy for $25 or $30. They made a CRAPTON of money at my expense. No thanks, I'll just buy digital, then it'll always be available when I want it. Yes, there may be a case where they delete the title a few years down the road, but I've been buying digital PC games since 2008 and haven't had that issue yet.

I hear you, they wanted to give me 25¢ for metal gear solid 4. I tried to sell my ps3 on craigslist and I had one "interested buyer" I drove all the way to him, couldn't get him on the phone or at the door. He claimed his phone didn't ring and he was in the bathroom. For 20 mins. He had to work stuff out I guess lol. When I traded in my ps3 that extra credit was huge. Look around for trading in a used console. $15 bucks for a Wii. Better off keeping it and using it for clay shooting. I was in the same boat, I cursed gamestop's name and business model. I tried to deal with goozex, they are a rip off now. I still have points on there and then they decided to restructure their point system. Now games cost double what they used to and didn't bump up my points. So I'm forced to trade in another new game just to have enough points to get 1 game. Part of me thinks it's just worth going with gamefly this way you won't have to buy a game and get crap for it. Like the above poster said, if digital had some type of exchange value for newer stuff would make a better business model and the amount of $ they would save on manufacturing and distribution costs would far surpass the the full $60 value they want to charge you for a download. The convenience is great for us, but don't be fooled, it's great for them too. Why should we still pay the full price for not a full product. Make it worth the consumers wild.

I could see where consumers would utilize some sort of digital trade in system. I've heard rumors that Steam plans on integrating a feature like this sometime in the future. We'll see, but if Steam does it, you better believe Sony will do it, or at the very least, SERIOUSLY consider it.

I swore off GameStop in 2010 I believe (whenever MOH was relaunched). I went in to buy a copy and the kid behind the counter was a complete smartass. He says "Did you preorder?" No, I didn't. "We're only selling copies to those that preordered." Did you not get enough copies to sell any OTC? "We did, but we're not selling them yet. I guess you should have preordered huh?" This last comment and the way he said it tripped my furious meter. I took my edge card out of my wallet, threw it at his head and told him to go **** himself and I'd just buy it from Walmart or Best Buy. I called corporate and they said it was their policy to only sell preorders for the first 24 hours (Something I'd never heard of before). I swore then and there that I would never ever ever use Gamestop again. (Oh, and Best Buy was the next closest store and it had LOTS and LOTS of copies on the shelf).
I broke that rule (or tried to) ONE time. I was looking for NFS Most Wanted for my Vita. NOBODY had it in stock. At the end of my rope I called the local Gamestop and asked them if they had it. They had 4 copies. I went in to buy it and their debit/credit machine was down. I asked if I could pay with a check, and the dude behind the counter said, rudely, "Come on man. There's a ATM just over there in Walmart. Go get some cash. We don't take checks." I just looked at him, "yeah I'll do that." My wife, god bless her, happened to be in a big city an hour away, and without telling me, she drove and called every store in that city until she found a copy at a Best Buy and brought it home with her.

Didn't steam already do something with the ps3? I thought portal 2 worked on both or something?

Anyway for those of you who don't know steam for pc really is the solution and the PSN seems to get closer to that model every day. Lets just hope it takes a year and not 5 years...

I haven't traded in a game in my life, my dad traded in my master system and games to get me a 32x back then and I still give him grief over that till this day

I have my sega genisis, sega cd, sega 32x, N64, ps2, wii, ps3 and ps4 connected right now I always go back and play something

I have all the games I ever bought to this day, still certain games are I the original packaging cause I never got to play them for what ever reason at the time

For me going digital will cut down on clutter drastically, those games on the ps3 that they put out for free with ps+, even if I already owned them I downloaded them so I can store the discs away for less clutter

So for me I won't worry about selling my used games, and like someone said, If I get a vita and do remote play I won't need someone to change a disc for me

Even if you gotta delete a game to download a new game then wanna go back and play the one you deleted, you can play as you download it again

I think sony is gunna get this right though, there will be something implemented that you can sell back the rights to a downloaded game to get some money back towards another PSN purchase especially when they put out the gaikai cloud with all the older games

I myself have had doubts about buying digital or going to the store and getting a hard copy and I will state I am a PS Plus member for about 4 years now. But I always thought I would never do digital cause I liked having something physical in hand and what not but then I started to relize damn look at all this room these games are taking up and I don't play them that much anymore and I know if I traded them in id get not much for them unless there was a promotion at Gamestop. So I mostly try and get digital games now cause they don't take up physical space so even if I don't play it after awhile I can delete and re download it if I decide I wanted to play it again. But the draw back to Digital is you do have to wait for the PSN store to update and that might take till 6 or 7 pm when you could have a hard copy playing already. Atleast that is what happened a few times for me. Oh and if you are a Ps plus member they have some great games that go for free or massively discounted.

My thought process is this: how often do you go back and actually play nowadays? I play a few classics that I won't trade in. But also, how many times will they update it and rerelease it as well. Case in point: Metal Gear Soild. How many times are they going to rerelease it? They have done it I think almost 4 times now. I have the original for ps1 and I have twin snakes on GameCube. The only issue I have with trading in my ps3 was mgs4. But I'm SURE there will be another HD bundle of some sort. You have to keep the games you know you will want to replay, the others, like the person above me said, takes up physical space. I still have my original xbox with all the emulators on it, my woo as well. But I never play them. One day I'll have them hooked back up. For now it's just space in the closet.

I think digit is a good thing, but like I stated before make it worth our while. Give us incentive to buy it that way.

Give it some time, digital copies are gunna get sold more often now, and more people are gunna be asking for what you're saying it'll happen but personally I don't see that digital buy back happening till after gaikai cloud is out and people wanna sell certain games back for a new game
