I've read some postings on AR15.com by a medical examiner in the south. He said he cannot tell the difference in pistol calibers by wound tract and usually has no idea what caliber someone was shot with unless someone tells him or he happens to recover a big enough piece of bullet/jacket. There is no one best pistol caliber or everyone and every police department would be carrying it.

He said rifle calibers are another story altogether. It boils down to velocity. Let me rephrase that, he can tell when someone is shot with a center fire rifle vs pistol.

I was going to post the link to a story about a bank robber who was shot 17 times by a single police officer during a shootout. He was still shooting back until the last one or two caught him in the head. It was determined he was not high or drunk or on anything. He was determined. I cannot find the link now... Shot placement matters.

So, would you rather have a lot of small bullets (9mm) or a few large .(.45ACP)? I'm speaking generally here before someone pops in and says a G21 carries 13+1 (if you are in a free state).Well, a G17 carries 17+1. I would like having four bullets as sort of "insurance." I prefer and carry a G29 10MM. It's (the 10MM round if loaded to 10MM specs and NOT to .40S&W specs like most brands) rated to hunt black bear and whitetail deer if that says anything to you.

With modern bullet technology, any advantages a larger bullet has is negated.

As usual Chris is on target with this

Right on the money Blake. I can tell a bunch of stories of real shootings. Shame TV and the joke that is our media makes people think one round blows people down hallways.

WHAT?!? All those years running around as a kid back in the 60's with a stick, and that isn't what the sound is?

Actually the silencer sound is pretty accurate.

Provided your running sub-sonic ammo, suppressed 22lr is amazingly quiet. However, it is still very audible.

Mythbusters used a professional sound man to record and compare. A lot of what you hear in amateur vids is secondary noise, echo, supersonic crack, etc. All the noises a movie sound man doesn't want.

Do you have any vids of someone shooting in a sound dead room?

Some of the Movie sound bites are silly, some are pretty good.

I don't own a suppressor, and I've only heard a couple IRL.. but I can see how a sound man could get that sound from a recorded shot. Sometimes they're just too aggressive with the cleanup... like auto-tune for guns

But how many times are you going to be shooting in a sound dead room?
