I'm familiar with it. Inexpensive Phillipines-made 1911. Not held with high regard.

If you really need to stay in the $400 price range, go with a Rock Island Armory (RIA). They're not the best guns, but they have great customer service so you're not left stranded if something goes wrong, like you are with many other manufacturers. If you can spend just a wee bit more ($550 to $600), look at the Springfield Mil-spec. Very few reputable gunsmiths will work on an RIA due to the extensive use of MIM parts and sub-par casting and machining quality, but the Springfield is a massive step up their and many smiths consider them excellent bases for a custom build.

Kimber also continues to make an excellent gun. I've had two, but I got lucky in that I never had problems. People have nightmare stories of having Kimbers with obvious feeding and ejecting issues, only to be told by the factory that, "it's in spec". In other words, customer-service is absent. Again, very good guns at a great price considering the features, but your SOL if something is wrong.

I had an American Classic II, for what it was it was great 1911. It ate every brand and grain load I fed it.

My first 1911 was a Magnum Research DE1911. It was cheap and I wanted one during the 100th anniversary. I had to send it back to them to replace the Extractor. After that, smooth sailing. Then I bought a Remington 1911. It was decent but it had the front serrations on the front of the slide. Functional but not a fan. I now own two Ruger SR 1911s. One in satin nickel and on in black. They are series 70 (no firing pin safety) pistols. I love them. Exactly what I was looking for. All the features I want and nothing I don't need. Expect to spend around $900 for one.

Had just holstered my Glock when I sat down and saw this.

Goodbye finger grooves. Hopefully they make a 37M and FHP picks some up.

They must have spent a lot of time on improvements for this one, I really like the new design, it looks just like a ......................Glock.

I guess this Country has more than enough money to burn.

If it ain't broke?

The only real complaint I have with the Glock Gen 4 full size were the finger grooves. Middle finger lands right on top of one of them.

Otherwise, it's never let me down.

Then it aint broke!

Funny things is I was not a Glock fan. Didn't care for the looks or that it was striker fired. Now all my handguns are striker fired. They probably sell more Glocks than any other gun in America.

I wasn't a Glock fan either until I bought one.

And on top of that, FHP requires me to carry one so...

You couldn't give me a Glock for free that I would consider keeping.

I said the same thing, when they first came out. But now I would have no problem owning one. Their reliable, and accurate. Not my first choice of handgun, but I would have no problem having one.

So what's the big objection?

My son has one in .40 that I shoot a little better with at the range than I do with his Springfield in 9mm on the same day. I don't get to go shooting all that often, but this has been a consistent experience.
