Why are you so butt hurt? How can the camaro's runs considered as hero runs when 2 people ran similar times, using similar mods on this very website?

Here, i copied this from the official C5 fast list to refresh your memory:
1. Walkermuffler - 11.71 @ 114.07 mph, (LT, CAI, Tune, 17'' wheels, Skinnies, Drag Radials), (LS3, M6) # 294
2. OrangeChevy - 11.83 @ 116 mph, (LT, Exhaust, CAI, Tune, 18'' wheels, Skinnies, Drag Radials), (LS3, M6) # 24

And yes, as someone else said, once the weather cools down the 5.0 will put up even better numbers. But like it or not, it's going to be close. It will be a driver's race stock between the 5.0 and SS, and it will still be a driver's race if both have the usual boltons.

You have posted a load of opinion which is nothing more to offer than any other person's opinion. Total lack of contribution.

Do you have any personal experience with either the LS3, L99 or the 5.0?

I have owned both the LS3 5th gen and the new 5.0. Both motors are damn comparable and on the same playing field. How they get there is a different approach. Which car is setup better for the 1320? Mustang hands down. It is lighter, solid axle, better gearing, and the motor responds to mods as-well-as if not better than the LS3.

Those are the facts and if you don't want to accept it then that is your issue. I think most level headed folks will see it for what it is regardless of what brand affiliation you have.

They are still running an 87 tune in an engine with an 11:1 compression ratio. Just thought I'd toss some fuel on the fire.

I don't have one yet, and still might end up with a C5 Z06 or an LS3 C6, but no matter what it is, any 'fun' car I get ends up at the track, and I end up doing my best to break it. LOL.

The cars are indeed close (especially the M6 versions). This fall should be quite interesting.

Maybe. What were the conditions in both runs?

The point is that the best numbers that both cars have put out are very comparable until now.

Just to be clear, i still think the 5.0 will eventually run better times than the camaro by maybe two tenths in th 1/4. BUT, it wont blow the doors off of the camaro as the stang guys have been swearing about for months now in their forums.

I'm not sure if this is a repost (based strickly on the new Road and Track magazine that just hit the news stands).
The results have been online for a few weeks.
I just saw the new Road and Track at the airport (mag hasn't made it to my house in the mail yet) and it had the V8 Camaro vs V8 Mustang GT and the V6 Camaro vs V6 Mustang.

And the Camaro did run faster (1/4 mile) than the Mustang GT in their comparison.

Read the post from Livernois before getting your panties bunched. The car has the stock intake and does not have a 93-tune, so comparing it to the 2 fastest full-bolt on SS's was not the intent of his post... get it?

Someone else could be different. This is about the 1000th time I have seen someone own car A. and claim it is faster than car B. and they own both.

CAI's have not shown very good gains as of yet without a tune. Yes they might be able to pick up another 10hp from a better tune.....but Im not sure with the right tune another CAI would help that much.

Also....the camaros were using 17 and 18 inch drag radials. The mustang had 15 inch rims....I suppose this doesnt mean anything either?

LG motorsports also ran 11.7-11.8 at 118 mph with their bolt on camaro as well. They were using 18 inch drag radials as well. These were far from hero runs. In fact if you watch the video the car has a lot left in it. They leave the line so slow it is pathetic.

Like it or not for both camps no one is running away.

I must admit i missed the part where they said it wasn't tuned for 93 octane. As for the intake, im not sure, but doesn't the 5.0 come with a CAI from the factory? Will there be any significant gains?

I guess we'll have to wait for private stang owners (privately owned cars, like tha cars i mentioned from the C5 fast list) to mod their cars with EXACTLY the same mods so you can be happy.

Ok? Don't get offended I just posted the times I got. So what the Mustang is like a half a second faster big deal. Why do you guys care if another car is faster? It's just a car. And on the plus side its still extremely fast!
