Hi Back

Poor MC is trying to teach me about car stuff.

(I may need to buy him a drink or two after this.)

Yup, you got both parts right... Cold air is more dense than warm air. CAI draws air from the grill area rather than under the hood. Under hood air is warmer due to the engine creating heat. The more air you can shove into the cylinder, the better potential to make power.... You'll probably run into A/F (air/fuel) ratio's too eventually. Denser air can suspend more fuel, and more fuel makes more power (to a point). That's why superchargers are popular... They don't cool the air, (air to air aftercooler does that) but they do compress it considerably, then the cylinders compress it even more. All that compressed air can suspend alot more fuel to burn.
So is adding CAI the start of an endless mod? I mean, if a person adds CAI, does that mean that 'X' needs to be upgraded, which means 'Y' needs to be upgraded, and since X & Y are different then Z needs to be replaced (repeat until owner is flat busted broke)

, but y'know... the only real reason I'm going is to meet the old farts in person . Track stuff will only keep my attention for about five minutes

Not at all. Actually, at 426hp, the car is plenty stout from the factory for the majority of buyers. I'd recommend no upgrades till the warrantee runs out, unless you're the one in 100 that can afford to pay cash for the car and don't care about the warrantee.

Ever been to a drag race? You might like it
