Probably the beer. Grain isn't a natural part of the human diet (as much as the food pyramid would like you to think it is the main/most important part). Far more important are meats and fruits.

P.S. - Just to make myself clear, thats not saying that grains aren't important in todays society. The way humans live has changed, and so our energy and nutritional needs have also changed. Carbs are much more important than they used to be, when short-term energy was gained through the simple sugars found in fruits, and long-term energy came from the fats and proteins in meat.

Yep. ALso due to the fact that fermenting and brewing the beer was a way of purifying water. Same reason why it continued to be a major consumable during the middle ages.

Hell even kids drank it. Beer is win.
