I think it's more of a security issue like ease of making a profile/verification. The admins are removing them fairly quickly. Also if we do our parts and report them, admin remove them faster. There's literally one or two of the dating ones a day. All new user names as well.

Oh the irony...

We are trying, and I've spent over 4 hours in the last three days, deleting the accounts of over 500 spammers, by user name, like pharmacy..., or viagra, or..... There are thousands more but it takes a lot of time...

I'm a member that was also asked to be a mod.... I would certainly like to come visit and enjoy it, but we gotta put up with spammers and complaints... Which would you prefer we tend to??? We are after all, all volunteers with a love of Camaros...

I would enjoy not having to worry about it, but we do....Feel free to report the posts you see, or not... Your choice... And I moved this to the proper forum, without penalty...

Do you guys need help on the other side of the board? I’m a mod on another vbulletin based site and happy to help.

I’ve been reporting this stuff every time i see it. I know on the other site I mod on the admins have told us that a lot of the recent spam stuff is AI generated and really hard to get a handle on.

Damn, dude, thank you!

I had no idea it was actually that bad. I see them from time to time, but never at the level you mentioned. Just shows that you guys are trying to keep it under control.

Yep. Looks like the Mods are doing a pretty good job of tamping them down. 👏 Lots of unnecessary work for our people. Greatly appreciated.

Yeah they are! I reported most all of them this morning when I first logged on and saw the rampant posts of them!!! They were everywhere!! Wow. Looks like most of them have been tamed down, except for a few that are left. Been a while since it was this bad. Also I wonder if they are working on the website again because it is slow as a snail again between page backs, and looking at posts. Kinda like it was last year around now.. I hope they get it all squared away, and figure out a way to BEAT the spammers!! Thanks mods for all you do, and you guys who help report them..

"We" are chasing them, well a couple of us are.... I'm getting 20-30 emails a day for spammer bots... Some have 1 post, or maybe two, and some have some random number like 37, or 42 posts.

I've discovered in some cases I can't batch select their posts to delete them, as it comes back as an invalid selection.... Software, or cross site posting, or something.... In those cases I have been able to select everyone of their posts and "Unapprove" them... which means you guys can't see them.... It's like a silence button, and they don't know it has happened.

After that, I can go into another remote page and ban the user name, so they can't post anymore... It's a pain in the butt... And nothing but clowns sitting behind a keyboard building BOTs to go and wreak havoc... (That's my best guess)

Please continue to report them as you see them and we'll get to them.. and I apologize there aren't more active people behind the scenes right now... Life....
