We have the bar. Bolton zl1 running 9.0 @ 152
Stock blower

I don’t see the z touching that without opening the motor even with turbo upgrades.

I thought this thread was comparing an SS to the new Z. The ZL1 is a different animal and costs significantly more.

We're not comparing the Zl1 but if you want big brother vs big brother there isn't any Camaro that can touch the little ole 3.8 in the GTR. They've been as far down into the 6sec range which no 6th gen has ever done. They can't even get a 6th gen into the 7s without swapping to a LS motor.

Hate to burst you bubble, but an SS with a bolt on blower is not too far away from a ZL1. Your "big brother" BS doesn't apply here with the vast differences between a 400Z and a GTR. The all wheel drive non existent on any other model spoken about is sure to be an enormous advantage for the $100K+ super car you deemed was a worthy comparison. Sorry, you failed, you can damn near clone an ZL1 with an SS. Please explain to us how YOU can clone a GTR with a 400 Z.

Instead of just arguing about this back and forth here is some actual research. It looks like you can get to 500whp - 550whp Without spending 15k. Probably will take the same amount of money as a blower only LT1 which makes 500-500 whp (correct me if I’m wrong). Remember these dyno numbers are from an awd car that has this engine so the 400z will dyno a little more. https://www.infinitiq50.org/threads/...thread.124379/

That's true. I have a family member with a GTR that has a Cobb tune and other bolt ons and it's pushing 700 hp. I have had a chance to ride in it and drive it and it's a beast, especially with it being AWD.

If you dropped $15K on an SS and only got 500-550rwhp, you got shafted. $15K can get you a 2650 blower kit, catless headers, toohighpsi's complete port injection system, and a set of drop in pistons and rods. Sure, you have to turn some wrenches yourself, but we have members here making 900-1000rwhp on their SS with similar set ups.
Hell, I will be looking at 650rwhp+ with a smaller blower kit, 2nd hand LT4 fuel system, flex fuel sensor, cat deletes and a tune. Under $7K all in. Between the new LT1 and all my mods tuned, my total cost to 650rwhp on a new car will be under $40K. Good luck finding a 400Z under $40K when they launch. The cheapest ones are in the mid $40K and come equipped with an open differential one-tire-fire from the factory. You will need to step up to a mid or premium trim to get a 400Z with a factory equipped limited slip differential. Those will be in the $50K+ range for sure.

Yes I was not trying to imply that with 15k you only get 550 whp on our platform. What I was trying to imply is that these cars make the same power as a blower only lt1 for roughly the same cost. The thing about getting a 400z for under 40k can be said about any new car launch. Eventually it will come back to normal.

I don't care how fast the new Z is.

It doesn't look good (to me) at all. Interior / exterior. Nope.

Not to mention, V8 > that turbo engine even if said turbo is faster. Why anyone would buy the 370Z or this new 400Z over a comparably priced Camaro or Mustang is beyond me.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I believe you can get more from an LT1 with a blower than you can get out of a 400Z + (insert *cost to supercharge LT1* here). The vr30 in the 400Z will need significantly expensive upgrades once it reaches the limits of the factory hardware after FBO+tune.
