That too. Or the fact that they could get an 09 for msrp or under with a stick and better gears and it would probably ship before all the 08s are shipped lol.

Which is what I am doing .

Sounds like "Back To The Future".. Soon it will all be talk ... Chevy Vs Ford Vs Dodge...... Aww to be 18 again...

Seriously we will have to wait until there are actual production cars (non- Modified) racing on the track. the ONLY way to settle arguments like this, otherwise it is all just speculation...

Even the first comparison tests magazines will do will not be accurate, each manufacturer will probably provide "Ringers" like they did in the 60's that will perform much better than actual production cars will...

Mopar Vs. Chevy. Again.

i think the challenger is a sharp car, and i really do hope they make a lighter version.

AND IT CAN BE DONE!!!

Dodge just released the challenger "Drag pack" where they took off OVER 1000 LBS!!!!

.... then again, they also took out things like airbags and powersteering. ha.

but im currently living in naples where i grew up, but im moving to Gainsville to go to University of Florida this comming fall.
Wow, they took off half a ton. Think about all of the extra crap that was loaded into the Challenger!

Not having read much on the Challenger, I didn't realize that only 1 of the 3 versions even had the option of the manual. The SE has no manual option, the SRT8 doesn't either. The R/T does but it costs an extra 995 to go manual and the R/T isn't even out yet.

Though the SRT8 in the '09 model does have the option for a manual just not the current '08's that are out.

The 09 Rt and SRTs both have the track pak option which includes the tremec 6 speed with 3.92 gears. The 08s were all AUTO, 2009 YOU pick to your liking for all except SE which isn't worth it because the v6 will be upgraded for 2010.

I quote Edmunds about The SRT-8 Challenger ...

"The new car's 0-60-mph time of 5.1 seconds (4.8 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) is right on, compared to factory claims. "

so the auto makes it in a (generous) 5.0

stick probaly 4.8

i still dont think the camaro has much to worry about...

i think reaching 4.5 in a 4300lb car is a stretch even with a stick.

(4300 w/ driver)

haha sure.

Are you going to get one? id love to get some real world numbers.

thats like the GTR boys saying they could drive the Ring' in 730.

my ass they could drive the ring in that time, a proffessional driver after WEEKS worth of runs could squeeze out that time.

I’m sorry I find it hard to believe that anyone has test drove a new challenger. The only challenger’s out there are limited addition numbered 08’s. No dealer is going to let someone test drive one.
