Jones uses his size and strength to avoid being tackled. Brown makes great cut moves to find the open area and sprint down the field. I don't think any NFL QB would complain if they had either of them on their team.

What's their plan 3SS? Is Hightower gonna walk? The Lions would love to pay/have him. Quinn has stated he wants to take a run at 'top shelf' free agents.

Part of the Patriot way is to have a strong leader on both sides of the ball who can lead by example and have the respect of his teammates. Stafford has grown into this roll on offense and no one is close to this level on defense. He is familiar with Hightower and knows he can fulfill both sides of the leadership equation on defense. Yes, buying these qualities may not be the Patriots way, he may not want to draft and develop this person himself if he can 'buy' this piece and be years ahead. The Patriots have been drafting and building the patriot way for the last three decades or there about. Where the Lions have been far away from that model for at LEAST the last 20 years. They did have decent talent in the 90's, sans a good quarterback.. Also Quinn said he would look at top shelf free agent talent and would not be adverse to acquiring one if it was the right way to go. Last year he got one starter Marvin Jones on offense, and one on defense Tavion Wilson, neither broke the bank, and the rest of the free agents were depth and special teams upgrades. While getting 4-5 starters and rotational players from the draft. If he can continue to keep 'hitting' at this rate in the offseason, hopefully the Lions will have a decent team in a couple years.

Yeah projected to take Miamis TE in the first round. Wonder if there are issues with Gronk.
