Well he doesn't mind buying new unless his payments are cheap, and Chevy is advertising 0% APR.

So we saw the Cobalt today, and weren't very impressed. It seemed like it was made out of plastic and not very safe. :(

I you're going to spend the 18k - 22k on a cobalt, just go Camaro LT. You're almost there in price anyway, and Camaro is SUCH a better product...

The interior is made out of plastic (). But what do you expect for a cheap, entry-level car? And it's got a full suit of airbags to make up for average crash-test ratings.

The interior is fine, and safety is not a problem either. Also newsflash, most new cars have plastic on the inside, it'll be hard to escape that.

I'm not talking about the inside. The outside of the car just felt very weak. I know it's an entry level car, but I don't know if I'm comfortable with him driving it, it might be too small for him.

He was also interested in the base model Honda Accord Coupe and Nissan Altima Coupe...they're a little more, but it might be the better decision for him.

I bought my daughter a Grand Prix. It is a very nice car, excellent in snow or rain, drives nicely, has plenty of nice options, and it's base radio system that is better than Mustang's Mach 500, or GTO's Blaupunkt. There is plenty of space inside for friends, and a large trunk for moving stuff. It gets pretty decent mileage, and is quiet to drive. I think the dash is very nice and feels like a cockpit.

She really likes her car, but since I have had my new Camaro, she has dropped a few hints she would like one too.

When I was 19 I got my Nissan 300zx for $7k. It has had its share of mechanical problems since I got it. Its actually in storage now, but I still love that car, and its still a pretty cool car.

You're probably better off getting something more dependable like a civic though.

But like a lot of people on here are saying, you could get always get a 2000ish Camaro.
