Rant: People who pose as being in the military

I am the kind to call someone out, and to pick on them on that forum or another forum, but that is where it ends. I am not the kind to go out of my way and find out where someone lives, and then confront them at their house. Personally, I believe that is asking to be shot. The person can claim they felt like there life was in danger...

I personally have been so up and down on what I wanted to do military wise. Now, with me training to become a rescue swimmer...I am finally happy. It will be a fun, and rewarding 4 years once I am in.

Hey - thats completely understandable. Its hard to get through that kind of training, and even harder to be able to handle that kind of job. You have every right to be upset when people pretend to be something they aren't. Its a matter of honor - every time they pretend to be part of something they aren't, it like spitting on the accomplishments of those select few that actually are a part of that.

I believe it is also wrong, that someone would lie about being in the military to make them selves look cool, or to impress others. However, I do not think showing up to their house to talk to them is the right course of action. It just elevates the situation.

I got the point from the get go, but when the situation goes from "Hi, how are you?" to, "You are fake, why the hell would you lie you POS..?" ( probably not exactly whats said)...things tend to change, quickly. Especially ones actions.

Like I said before, what they do is wrong, and should be called out. However, a visit, is not a necessity lol. They don't endure the mental and physical pains one of a spec ops agent does. Nor do they have a clue what it is like. I do agree with that..

Here's my thought.

The bottom line is until you have served, you can't really understand why it's so infuriating when someone fakes it.

My 9 years of sacrifice, my Mile upon mile in the Pool, (Former Navy Rescue Swimmer And Aircrew Instructor) My miles upon miles running on the beach. My thousands of pushups. My 2,000 hours of flight time, my 1.5 years of sea time... My medals...

And you want to fake it??? I'm sorry I'd confront you too. And lets not forget my very close friends that died serving their country...

I'm sorry but there is no room for faking it... Once you're a service member and worn the uniform and made the sacrifice, then you'll understand. Until then this is a closed conversation.
