Short term: change to a gym that's not on his beat.

Mid term: get your cats re-installed and buy one of those hide-away front license
plate brackets.

Long term: Since you obviously like a loud exhaust - get power actuated cut outs
so you can be crazy loud at the flip of a switch. With cats and the front
plate flipped up, you can return to your current gym and show the cop
you're a good guy now.

Every profession has one of these guys and we have to learn to adjust our actions to keep them away. Same way with a dic-head boss, you learn what his pet peeves are and make sure he gets those taken care of and he usually calms down. This guy is playing within the rules, and given you 2 breaks but due to his work personality he has hurt your feelings.

I had a "friend" in high school who was "harassed" by the police. His father was an attorney, not criminal. Anyway, they threatened to sue the police because every time one of their cars would leave the drive way it would get pulled over no matter who was driving. They eventually bought all new cars so they wouldn't be instantly recognized. The problem is that my "friend" was a drug dealer. It varied over the years, but I know he was always selling pot, and dabbled in powder coke, crack, and LSD and then what else I don't know.

I think his parents were a little naive. Eventually they shipped him off to boarding school, which he got kicked out of several of them, never his fault of course. I don't really know why his parents put up with it for so long. Anyway, it's been 20 years, but if he were to call me up today and say he was "harassed" by a cop I'd have to ask what he was doing to deserve it.

I'm not comparing the OP's story to that of a drug dealer. It's just that if you break the law and the law comes down on you then you don't have much room to complain about it.

I won't be the one to throw the first squirrel. I tore off from a light one day because I was feeling frisky. It happened right in front of a sheriff's deputy. He didn't give me a ticket, but I wouldn't have said anything negative about the guy if he had.

Or people who live near the gym are complaining and he is doing his job. If your exhaust is illegal and you aren't doing anything about it he is doing his job. Maybe he is tired of chasing you too and will start getting you for everything wrong you do, failing to signal, not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign....

It's been a couple weeks since a "I'm doing something wrong and it's not my fault thread"

Refreshing....

I could only imagine your wrath and fury if he had written you a ticket or two for your self-made violations. (You got warnings, stop crying)

It isn't harassment, stalking, or whatever you call it when you get stopped for doing something wrong. If you were 100% legal and didn't commit any moving violations, then maybe I would be inclined to give you the benfit of the doubt.

First sentence in the first post of this thread:

"ok,i will start by saying my car is loud - it is straight piped from the turbo back. no cats etc...
"

In addition, removal of the cats is legal nowhere I can name in the USA. My understanding is this is a Federal Regulation (read: it is against the law to remove a functioning OEM catalytic converter) but CA has its own flavor:

Just put your cats back on. Should be enough to shut him up. Also keep in mind louder is not always the best exhaust tone. If I was you I would go cats then sport X pipe then a cherry bomb axelback or american thunder.

In addition, removal of the cats is legal nowhere I can name in the USA. My understand is this is a Federal Regulation
unless the car is from 1969 and earlier.
