For someone who has a picture of a Camaro racing in their signature it seems like you would understand there is more to the car than this 450 number you are crying about every other post.
Or did you just find that picture on google and thought it looked cool?

Clearly you care enough to read the thread and voice your opinion. "You people"... self-righteous prig.

I've said since the reveal that I'm not a fan of the ass end at all ,but I'm sure this will be the best corvette ever. I just can't get past the looks. It's almost like a toy company designed it.

Curious - have you seen it in person, yet?

But I keep hearing over and over that when you see it in person you're in awe. Similar to what we all went through in 2009 with the pictures of the prototypes...only more. |

If this helps at all, I took pictures of it about every 6" it passed on the moving platform while I was there. They're crappy cell phone pictures... I wish I had an actual camera while I was there! I love the front of it, every part of it looks better in person!!

The Corvette Stingray looks pretty good in its own right. I'd prefer to own a ZL1 though, so idk. I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon just yet until I see it in person and get a feel for it. At this point in my life a Corvette no matter what model it is, is practical for me. Maybe a couple of years down the road but certainly not now.
I never understood the price points as you mentioned, but you aren't just paying for the HP. Your paying for a piece of history and the hallowed name, as well as the complete "package". |

I saw it at the Detroit auto show, it does look good. but really hate the rear end.
The vette was kind of a let down for me, i love the c6. Was expecting to love the c7 even more, but ya i simple like it. i wont buy one. |

Revo was complaining about styling and power. Styling wise, I love it. But if you stood around an auto show, or spoke to ALOT of people, you will see how mixed the reviews on this vette is in comparison to what it usually is. Power wise, of course its great but my view is that this car is supposed to be the next step and a benchmark and we all know it is. But average consumers are going to see 450hp Corvette, 426hp Camaro, 420 Hp Mustang and go HMMMM WE know it will perform great, but I think 480 wouldve put that wow factor that its lacking in terms of power not performance. And Ultimately, this is a forum, people are gonna comment whether its good or bad. I praised the Vettes design in the inital threads about it and still do, But in the SS thread im bashing its design. I think the other thing Revo was trying to get at was the Politics revolving the Stingray and our Forum that I wont comment on, but its awfully obvious. Anyways love it or hate it, the next gen Vette is coming, I for one have it on my list of possible cars to get which includes the C63 AMG and Viper.

My time spent on C5 has dropped off drastically in the last 6 months or so, and responses to this topic have thrown the cause into sharp relief. Sadly, my time spent here will only continue diminish. Seems this forum is more an arena for fans of the latest and greatest, rather than fans of the Chevrolet Camaro. I'm sure I'll be missed. /rant.

Can I take a minute to point out a few things..... - The two cars are intrinsically related. Most fans of the Camaro can and will appreciate what's going on with the Corvette, whether or not they like it: because what's happening in Corvette world may yet be happening in Camaro world soon...It'd be a little silly to try and stifle that, it's not as though they're acting like the Mustang trolls of old. But we created a Corvette site for those people to enjoy... - This is the general automotive/other cars section...you posted it in the general Camaro forum. So if your concern is that the site is become less Camaro focused - might I ask why you did that? - Camaro5 has stayed Camaro5 besides some technical mergers to keep things simple on the back end....(notice the lack of a "Corvette" section or something like that). If you don't like Corvettes, you can browse the Camaro5 forums and don't ever have to be see it (unless you're in this section) - The Camaro is entering a little slump in "super-wow" excitement that may last until the new generation starts leaking information...and at that point I can almost guarantee attention will shift yet again to our favorite car. I'm sorry you're not seeing this site as a "Camaro site" anymore...but we are. You will be missed if you left...but I don't want to try and "force" you to stay, because that never works well...consider what I said above. Sleep on it... |
