“It was calling me a bad role model that rubbed me the wrong way,” she said.
Being called fat and obese didn't upset her, but being called a "bad role model" did? I have mixed feelings on this especially when the husband decided to put it on facebook when he could have went a different direction. |

This lady is either Obesity (Class 2) or Morbidly Obese
BMI= 18.5 or less = Underweight
BMI = 18.5 to 24.99 = Normal Weight BMI = 25 to 29.99 = Overweight BMI = 30 to 34.99 = Obesity (Class 1) BMI = 35 to 39.99 = Obesity (Class 2) BMI = 40 or greater = Morbid Obesity If she is 5'-3" and weighs 200, her BMI = 35.42 = Obesity (Class 2) (Her real weight probably is 200, but could be higher.) If she is 5'-2" and weighs 220, her BMI = 40.23 = Morbid Obesity. I think it's interesting that this woman might be classified as "Morbidly Obese" and it has no affect with her job. If she is "morbidly obese", that would probably pose a health risk. But I think if female TV anchors have gigantic breasts (like Clarice Tinsley of Fox news), that this is viewed as one way to "cancel out" the idea that the anchor is overweight. Another interesting NOTE about the BMI calculator: Anyone who plays around with the BMI calculator will find out that if you DO INDEED have a BMI of less than 25, chances are you look VERY THIN looking. You can't really be "fat" at all, or the BMI will jump over a value of 25. Last edited by 2001ragtop; 10-05-2012 at 11:23 AM. |

good for her for sticking up for herself...whoever sent the email needs to get a life and change to channel if he cares that much about how she looks.

B.) On the flip side he does bring up a good point, just how the Atkins guy who said eat tons of saturated fat concidentally died of a heart attack. They want to say it was chronic infection, but our science isn't advanced enough to without a doubt prove what causes someone's death, we 'rule' on it and guess essentially. I think people who give health advice should be in a POSITION to give such advice. Do you go to the bartender to ask medical advice? They may give it to you...but wouldn't you rather speak to a damn doctor? The e-mail wasn't very rude, it was blunt and somewhat tense, but for her to address it on-air was completely out of line. I'm sure her fat ass and her husband who is also coincidentally employed by same news channel bitched to the program manager or whatever until they allowed her to bring it up. She even ADMITS that being in the spotlight can bring critics to your front door, but taking time out of the newscast to whine and confront someone about your own personal issues...that's extremely unprofessional. She may be a nice lady, but I would never take health advice from her nor do I think she should be giving advice on that topic. E-mail guy was right, but again who has the time to bitch about that shit? Dude needs to go outside or something. |
