Sleek? I'm not sure I'd say 'sleek' in the same sentence with either the Camaro OR Mustang.

Even my neighbor who is a die hard Ford guy with a GT says my car looks and rides much better that his GT, he was even drooling over the new ZR1, he is not as impressed with the GT500.
You drive a bumblebee Camaro and you say the Mustang is too much of a "me too" car? That's some funny stuff right there. The Gen5 Camaro is currently, IMO, the current "me, too" car much more than the Mustang.

GM is run by bean counters after Lutz left. That said, relatively few buyers are interested in the max performance package, let alone drive their cars to the max. Sales are mostly based on styling. Which explains why the Camaro outsells the faster Mustang. As long as performance is good enough for the average buyer, the car will sell. Few run any track, not drag or road course.

Pretty much all cars are "me too" cars they way they come from the factory.
To make it otherwise is what makes it fun. Make yours not a Me Too. I don't know about where you are, but Tranformer Camaros are few and far between here. None of them "me too"

The new GT500 seems likely to post better 1/4 mile numbers than the ZL1 but probably not many of us spend most of their time at the strip. Less weight,80 more hp & and a straight axle to launch it with will do that. Give Ford credit for making an old platform work really well.

The ZL1 exhibits some great technology and , as far as I can tell, at a price point @ $5k less than the GT500. The weight of the Zeta platform is the weakness of the Camaro but overall I would call it a more capable car overall.

It is frustrating that the Mustang seems to trump the Camaro by the numbers but there is a lot more to enjoying a car.

The GT500 and ZL1 have the same base price. However, there is no gas guzzler tax on the GT500. So if you pay sticker price, the GT500 is cheaper.

my father inlaw has a 2011 supersnake...total spent on it was right at $105,000...last week he test drove a zl1 and all he could say is "man thats a bad son of a bitch"...said car just is a sweet car....i love all brands...well i love ford and chevy and kinda like dodge....i mean challenger body style is great but we all know dodge is really lacking in quality and performance dept....but anyways, idk i love both of the cars....but ford has the shelby and chevy has the zr1.... i love pony cars aka camaro,mustang,challenger...(like referring to the original name of the cars back in the day)

No, I get what the OP is saying. The Veron is not a GM direct competitor. IMO, The "there's always going to be someone faster" bit doesnt go over as well when its against a rival. I could care less myself but understand.

Not only am i a Chevy Fan but my family has been driving Chevy's since they came out on the first production line and to this day what Ford does has never determined or swayed what or how i buy a new or used car! I will always buy Bowtie regardless of what the hell the Blue Oval is doing!~

The last photo is of my dad, straight from the eyes of a Chevy Loving Man, Chevy Really does run deep, deeper than who gives a damn what the hell Ford is doing!

Personally I'm more interested in a car that can track well, going in a straight line for 12 seconds gets boring IMO.
So if the GT500 outperforms the ZL-1 going around the track, what will be your next excuse? The GT500 wipers suck?

You have to got to hand it to Ford for spanking GM's ass. I hope they bring back the GT with the '13 GT500 power-train and spank the Corvette.

I agree with the OP, and having mine for almost 3years I'm statring to doubt the longterm ownership of them. Seems not all it was cracked up to be. I tested a 370Z and it really got me thinking. I just think that down the road these will be very hard to unload. Seems theres tons unsold and the Mustang keeps a steady pace. Just doubting any longevity with these. Seems like the demand is dropping fast and thats never a good sign.

Wrong.. explain how Ford managed to engineer the vehicle to only have about a 8% drivetrain loss?

Time slips and track tests don't lie. Dynos do.

Stock it should see in the neighborhood of 556rwhp
