Look into getting a student (or older) version of photoshop if you're not using it to put food on the table.

If you're thinking of buying a new machine, macrumors keeps track of where each product is in its life cycle.

I think that's a good choice. I think they are supposed to be releasing newer MacBook pros sometime in the near future which means you should be able to get a great deal on the current ones. As far as 13 vs 15. I would say if when you're doing most of your graphic work, if you're plugged into a monitor go 13. But if you rely on the laptop screen you might wish for 15. You'll have fun with the Mac, after a couple weeks and you get use to it, you have to let us know. I love the "gestures" you can do for certain actions. You'll see once you get it.

It seems like there are a good amount of Mac folks on here if you need any tips or help.

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements, its the normal human priced version and does basically anything you'd need it to do.

Good lord $2000 for a laptop.

An equivalent Dell or HP is $1000. Just saying.
