How is C5 legitimate for a Corvette and not a Camaro? Seems like the same thing to me. No one's going to confuse the two. And in this forum, ifs someone says "C5" they're obviously referring to a Camaro.
Who made you the acronym police?

Because the C for Corvette's is a long established designator, while Camaro's have always been called by the generation. If you go to a group of car guys and say "C5" and they find out you're talking about a CAMARO, you're going to get laughed at. Call it what you want, but if you're hanging out with REAL car people, you're going to look like a tool. Call it whatever the hell you want. Most of the people on this site talk like they've never even owned a f'n car, let alone are car people.

I'm referring to the people specifically that are referring to the car and not this website. I'm pretty good at reading comprehension and can tell the difference.

C4 and C5 are disc in your neck, also a C4 is a Ford Transmission.

Soooo, I guess it can stand for more than one thing

I'll make sure I'll remember that the next time I'm on a orthopedic or Ford forum? This however, is a GM forum, and in terms of GM, a C5 is a CORVETTE

Good for you. Looks like you can afford to buy whatever you want and never have to turn a wrench yourself...Therefore not actually appreciate a hobby and it's terminology used by "common folk." What part of your Camaro is a Corvette exactly?

Until recently nobody called Vettes by the Generation either. I doubt anyone refered to their C3 Vette back then as a C3. Probably not even a C4.

Though I have noticed the reference made to the Camaro a few times. It never bothered me. It's not like the Vette is officaily named C5 or C6.

But, to me C5 is Camaro5 first, Corvette second, and nothing after that.

When they were designing the 63, it was referred to as a "C2." It was code for "Chassis 2" because they were secretive even back then.

But the gen. pop didn't refer to them as such. I never heard a Vetter refered to as 'C?' until the C5.
