So.....my dads car is faster than yours. My dad makes more money than yous.....I feel like a bunch of freakin little kids. Both cars are impressive for sure. I like the Camaro, but cant blame anyone for liking the stang. So buy the one you want and lets settle it on the track, not here on the Internet.

Yep, and by then I will have been driving and enjoying my car (or possibly even a 2010 GT500) for several years while both of those cars are, as of this date, still a pipedream.

I agree 100%. I had fun mopping the floor with the few SRT Challengers that visited the track this past fall and look forward to doing the same with a few Camaro's this spring/summer. I'm sure there will be more than a few that will return the favor.

This is one of those rare circumstances that I like the vert better. Usually I hate verts,
but that car is pretty sweet looking. Good numbers too. Ford perplexes me as a company though. It allready had good numbers. What doesn't have good anything is the GT. Why not put more money into those to strengthen the brand across the board? its almost like they think people who can only afford up to the Gt don't deserve power. GM proved it could be done, you would think all things considered they would step up to the plate and do something.

Terrible quality? Get out from under the rock you've been living under and move into the 21st century. As recently as this past summer/fall, Ford was the most-awarded company on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, beating even Toyota, in the quality of its cars.

I've owned 6 Fords since 2002 (2000 Lightning, 2003 Mach 1, 2005 Mustang GT, 2001 Lightning, 2005 F150 FX4 and my current 2007 GT500) and I've not had any major quality issues with any of them. Out of all of them, the only one that had to go back to the dealer for any work was the GT500 for a passenger-side airbag recall issue.

I have over 18K miles on the GT500 now and drive it 60 miles, round-trip, almost every day to work and back in all weather conditions. I've not had any problems with the car at all despite putting down over 260 more rwhp that the car came with for 12 of those 18k miles.

I had my 2006 GTO for 18 months, and in that time, I had to take it in for two major issues (strut rub and paint defects) and four other times for minor issues (broken driver side seat track, squeaking/handing clutch pedal, a/c sounded like a jack-hammer when engaged and bubbles on the steering wheel). From everything I learned when I owned the car, these were common issues. Do I know owners of GM products that have had zero issues with their cars, sure. I think its the way it goes with all manufacturers even,*gasp*, imports.

I take no unbrage from people who do not like Ford as a brand but, as hard as it might be for some people to be objective, you have to give credit where credit is due. One day I hope that people will wake up and realize that running down someone else's ride of choice does not make their choice look better. I think it is more likely that Israel and Palestine will-exist peacefully before that ever happens, but I can still dream.
Dude I'm sick of arguing the same thing with you. I'm not saying Gm has much better quality than Ford, but seriously I work in the business. When I put cars on the lifts nothing rusts under a car quicker than a Ford. And yeah your quality rates higher than Toyota, Honda, etc... But, in realitywe should wake up and realize in the 21st century it isn't Honda and Toyota being bailed out. It's Ford, Chrysler, and GM! So, obviously alot of people aren't buying american for some reason? It isn't because of our styling, it's because of our quality. And, I'm sorry when cars come in my shop that are at least 15-20 years old, they are Camry's, Accord's, Carolla'a, Civic's, etc.... Don't see too many Taurus' left on the road. Or Impala's in that case!

I'm not sying it is just Ford that is the reason the Big 3 are in trouble! But, when it comes to the Big 3 my preference is GM. They make America's Sports Car: Corvette, Very Nice Luxury Vehicles: Cadillac, and have a very versatile lineup throughout their companies. The truth is all of our car companies are in trouble. And, just like I said Ford has cars that rust quicker I can tell you that GM has many Valve Body problems and Computer problems compaired to Ford. My preference is GM and I'm biased, what did you expect this is a Camaro forum!

And, I gave the new GT500 plenty of compliments so take it or leave it! I don't want to argue with anyone this is a forum where we should be able to voice our opinions without getting bashed. I said I like the GT500 the truth is, forget the fact that is is a Ford, if it was going to have IRS I would buy it no questions asked. But, like you said this is the 21st Century and I think it's time Ford stepped into. When they brought the Mustang out again with a live rer axel on the retro Mustang I think they got way to caught up in the retro part! I understand cost is a factor but GM is bringing the Camaro back for a little bit more in price but well worth it for an IRS, I think! So, like I said I love the GT500, it is killer. I almost got one instead of a Vette four years ago, so please no more arguing! Lets all just be firends!

I wonder what kind of dealer markup these cars will get? I hope it isn't too much, that didn't work well for them last time. I saw too many sit on the showroom floors because the dealer wanted crazy money to the point where someone could've went out and bought a Z06 at the time! Hopefully the dealerships have learned their lesson. But, I still can't believe how sweet that snake is! But, I'm glad this car came out, it just gave me the best excuse to S/C my SS! And, after I do that I like my chances of seeing my Bumblebee sting that Snake off the track!

There's two local Ford dealers and each has a KR in its showroom with ADM of over 100K Good luck getting that by summer if those cars haven't sold. There's always some high-priced iron in our local rural Ford dealer, there's maybe 3 new cars on the lot,but always a Ford GT or GT500 or KR in the showroomThey always sell too,it's a shame to go to a private collector who won't drive these things,i hate that people just store these things away. What a waste,i'd put 100,000 miles on a KR,i wouldn't care. If i could afford a 100K,i could afford to drive the sh%t out of it.

Actually, Ford was not a part of the bailout, but you already know that.

Awesome, I like some of the GM products too and have even bought them from time to time in the past. I prefer JIF peanut butter to Skippy, you may not. That's why they both exist on store shelves. Some, myself included, would argue that GM has too many nameplates/offerings, often in competiton with itself for the same car buyer.

ok guys lets think about this.

The GT500 costs, say, we'll give it a GENEROUS 10 thousand more than the SS.

Then we'll factor in the primitive axel, which is good for nothing but going in a straight line. So that would lead a thinking person to believe that is their big piority when building this car.

So lets add this up. The Car is built for straight line speed, and it costs 10k+ more than the Camaro... well to me that means it BETTER be faster or its an EPIC FAIL that would make the GTR laugh at ford.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."
