I'm in the same boat as you with the choice on the heads....I'm not sure the cost is worth the 20hp. At this point, I'm pretty sure I'm going to pass on the heads.

I sold the 99 to local guy from Tech, he the car to death, and drove on the Power Tour with me this year. The 99 was a legit 11 second car, and he knocked down 24mpg on the trip. LSX power
Heads are for sure worth it on L99 cars because you have to remove them anyway for a decent cam upgrade. Ported heads for these cars only cost about as much as quality headers. If we can spend $1,200.00 on headers for 25hp than we can spend it on heads for the same amount. I mean if your going to have the heads off anyway why not.

Excellent point! For L99 guys, it's a no brainer call!

I've got an LS3 though.

Not sure on adjusting tire pressures but that is starting to split hairs. Like saying the first time you have to fill your car up with gas it is not stock anymore.

who the hell keeps a stock cam in their LSx?

About 99% of anyone who has an L99 due to the VVT. There are several vendors who are working on VVT cams but are several months away from market. The other 1% have already done the LS3 conversion and paid the extra to eliminate the VVT.

Also as for head work I have some excellent CNC port work that is a great price, I will shoot you a reply to an old PM with some info.

On topic again... Camaro > Mustang, we are on a Camaro forum after all. (This topic exploded, but what if I was to provide some video of some racing in Mexico between these stock cars... )

Regards

i guarantee you the camaro will win by 30 cars to 100mph with your shop driving it.

you have no clue what you are talking about at all in this thread.
With all of your over the top assumptions, have you even read what the shop has said or done.
Every reply you have had to this thread has either been an opinion or just a plain stupid reply......

Why don't you read this thread before you make your posts..

Aren't you done with this thread? Seriously? That's what you said.

These folks have already shown themselves to NOT being biased by mentioning every little thing that has gone on while testing the Mustang. From low octane to missed shifts, what more do you want? They then go on to show how the Mustang picked up hp and torque with better octane, but the heat killed the car at the track. Haven't we all experienced that?

Get real dude. IPS is doing a real world, no advertising bought, third party test of a Mustang like a consumer would, only better. They are taking us step by step, informing us as to what's going on, and what can be better. I can;t wait till they start modding the car like Camaro. Really see what the new 5.0 can do, as we all know the old one can truly be beastly! I also like how they are comparing each step of the way to the Camaro in it's early stages. Again, real world, non-biased testing.

Also, I'm sure you are trying to twist that little bit of sarcasm/joke that IPS Brandon threw in about the Camaro>Mustang. Truth is, this is a Camaro forum, and that is how the majority of us feel. Even giving the '11 Mustang it's props, it's a bad ass ride, v8 or v6, and it's going to make the stoplight wars fun!

Long story short, you don't like it, don't read it, don't post about it. Go to a Ford site and complain. Hell, start your own, Bill's Performance Ford.com, then you can tell everyone how the '11 Mustang beats the Camaro by 30 cars to 100, and everyone will know you aren't being biased, right?

If you don't like the tests or the results get out there and do your own.

Otherwise move on.

No body has anything to gain by lying here...

Not after investing 30K in a "dyno queen"

This is a good test. and in the end I think it will confirm that the two cars are neck and neck.... Driver mod will be the difference.

as it should be...

I'd like to clarify that heat didn't kill the car. 107mph is enough to dip into the 12's.

It certainly wasn't helping

We are going back out tomorrow night (Weather permitting) to get a few more passes in bone-stock before we start any tuning or toss a set of Drag-radials on it
