yeah Richmond and Motive are making 3.73s and 4.10s...and GM has a 3.70 (which looks to be the better deal for strength). but ive already seen where a few ppl on here were paying over $600 for the gears and install.

Then we're all good...I was joking too.

Both cars are bad ass machines.....I'm not sure what the endless bickering is about.

You typically don't find these obstacles on a track, but in real life they tend to crop up.
oh yeah, that 7.5" rearend that would blow up even with street tires was the best SRA set up ever

sounds like you were just scared of your car. For people driving at safe speeds and not racing over pot holes the SRA does it just fine. The IRS is arguably more comfortable but hardly to the point where its noticeably so. If youre racing on the course the differences are minimal.

as far as losing control in everyday situations, traction control systems do a great job of keeping everything safe

It's funny to me that the owners of a car that never in its 40+ year history offered a model with an IRS setup until its 5th generation suddenly jump on the IRS bandwagon now that it is the suspension of choice on the latest interation.

I don't recall a bunch of the 4th Gen guys saying much about the advantages of the IRS over the SRA from '99-2004 when the Cobra Mustang had it and the Camaro SS did not. Why was that?

In the past several years, I've owned and driven a pretty wide variety of makes and models, both with and without IRS under them, and I agree with the person that said both have their strengths and weaknesses. I don't believe either is the be-all, end-all of suspensions, as there are variants of both that can leave a lot to be desired.

In the end, a lot of myopic Camaro folks will continue to throw out the "archaic" SRA vs the "neuvo" IRS differences as a reason their car is better, and that is fine. In the end, if you, the owner, is happy with the ride/handling of your care regardless of what is under it, the other stuff is just fodder for the message boards/magazines.

So, what I conclude from this survey is NOT that Mustang people didn't WANT the IRS, I see it more as proof that they are cheapskates.

Isn't it cool how surveys can be made to sound like something they are not???
Did you actually get on of those surveys from Ford and respond to it? No? I did, and I'm not sure where you received your information but the question was not framed the way you indicate; whether or not you would pay more for an IRS. At the time that survey was sent out, the IRS had been under the SVT car for three years. Nice try though.

Maybe you should reread the title of this thread. It clearly says "2010 Camaro vs 2011 Mustang GT". That's IRS vs SRA.

I personally never owned a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th gen Camaro. I own only a 5th gen. That's IRS. It's not what foreign automakers use. It's what the ENTIRE world uses. You can pretty much count on one hand cars that aren't built with IRS in 2010.

I wasn't directing my comments to any specific Camaro owner in this thread, but good job on taking my general comment personally.

You do make a good point, however, about the number of 2010+ model year passenger cars that feature a solid rear axle. That makes the car I drive even more special to me now, knowing there is something that makes it a rare car beyond just the limited production numbers. Thanks.

Be careful though, just because everybody else in the world has something doesn't mean that it's better than something else.

I will never understand the stance taken on this. There's definitely a reason for socialized medicine and it requires you to think of someone beyond yourself, but hey whatever floats your boat.

Let's try to keep this thread open.

If you wish to discuss/argue IRS/SRA, post in the other Mustang vs. Camaro thread.

Damn you guys really know how to kill a thread.

I hope IPS Motorsports starts a new one that covers the original intent of this.
