oh you do? i wonder if they changed that in newer editions, because someone came up with a patch pretty quickly to do that when it came out 2 years ago.

Only certain apps will open in the Metro UI, but you still do not have the start menu like you did in every version of Windows before it. The people that were hating on Windows 8 and 8.1 just jumped on a bandwagon because a lot of changes were made behind the scenes to make the OS much lighter and capable on less robust devices.

As to my knowledge, its not possible. There have been quite a few people mad about that, and it is like that in every version of Windows 8/8.1.
