It was a very technical answer to a question no one was asking. I was involved in some of the early phases as they were really doing some unique work in the roof mechanism and trying to get the width of the opening maximized.

The only real hurdle that wasn't crossed was the two way tailgate only opens 60 degrees when you open it like a door with the vertical hinges.

I think the Avalanche is a far less elegant solution that does 95% of the same stuff.

The big advantage is you can close up the rear compartment taller than you can in an Avalanche. Plus unlike the Avalanche, all of the drop glass is power where the Avalanche has a piece of glass that must be removed manually.

Plus you get the length and wheel base of the long truck, but only two row seating of the short truck.

Neat truck, cool features, but that's about it.

I'm assuming the power rear roof was built to last a while. I'm just worried that if I buy a used one and the roof breaks down, the repairs would cost a ton.
