Those will be hard numbers to live up to. Especially since the GT500 isn't close with wider tires and better power to weight ratio.

I'm not knocking the car I'm just curious ....I mean fully tested like all the other muscle cars have been up till now 0-60, cornering, 60 - 0, track, ect..Straight line is fine and dandy but there's more to it than that. Like the z28 has great numbers factory without upgrades...so is the ZL1 without aftermarket upgrades. So essentially to say the Hellcat can do better if you buy aftermarket upgraded parts can't be placed in the same category."not saying you said anything like this"

HOLY SSSSSSSST

I just went to the Dodge website to see it there was anything new on the Hellcat and it not good news for ZL1 owners 707 hp stock. I have to say i looked at a Challenger SRT before i bought my 2014 ZL1 . I liked the way the Challenger looked on the out side but i could not get over how much of a dog it was performance wise and how bad it handled . But according to the Dodge website they have fixed the handling to make it track ready.
I just hope Dodge dose something stupid like make it a $75,000.00 car because if it is in the 50,000.00 to 60,000.00 range . I would be kinda wondering if i should have waited . I love my ZL1 but having 707 out of the box with a real back seat. Would be really nice .

The denial in here us strong.

707 horsepower and some of you are bitching about how ****ing cute it looks on a road course that 7.9 people will take it to.

I'll tell you what car is gonna suck ass....the new C7 Z06....especially when they try to haul 10,000 pounds up and down a mountain.

Forced induction alone wont work. Even then you will need to add to it to keep up.

This behemoth is going to cost north of $70,000. For all the peeps that can afford that, the price may as well be $100,000+. The Challenger is a nice vehicle but if I was gonna invest in one it would be the SRT8. Two big advantages for the Challenger over either the Mustang or Camaro...real space in the back seat and a superior touch screen. Appearance-wise, it comes up short with the Camaro #1 and Mustang #2.

I think it's funny that nobody noticed that Dodge burned up their clutch after 4 passes while getting their 10.9 1/4 miles time.

Good piece of engineering, however that being said, this car is gonna be a terror on the road. Well done Dodge for bringing a gun to the gun fight! Looking forward to Ford and GM's response, this is an exciting time to be a gear head.

Simple physics. You can not simply look at marketed horsepower when comparing cars. The M4 is putting 430hp/430lb-ft to the ground and weighs 3,581lbs. When we compare weight/whp ratio's for the two cars:

M4: 3,581/430 = 8.33lb/whp
Z/28 3,862/455 = 8.48lb/whp

Pretty darn close. The biggest difference is the torque curve between the two. The M4 puts down more peak torque (430lb-ft vs 420lb-ft) and more torque throughout the range (forced induction). The M4 in the Car&Driver comparison was also $80,325 as tested.

DCT transmission helps immensely. My stock 13 M5 smokes my stock ZL1 in a straight line. My findings lead me to the A6 crap tranny.
