Sweet I might get it dropshipped. That would be nice for shelby to do it instead of aftermarket.

And Vararam made 40hp from just putting an intake on a Camaro SS.

You need to see independent tests by actually owners (not companies selling products) to get the real picture.

But I'm sure with a good tune (custom tune done by a professional) the 5.0 with make decent HP from a tune.

from what ive seen the tune seems pretty crappy from the factory. Ive seen A/F ratios all over the place with the new 5.0. SO no they are not maxxed out. That was just a (false) rumor mostly spread through the GM forums.

I've seen crazy AFR's too. Up top it was like 10.8:1 or something like that.

[/URL]]Not sure about those claims, that torque is way low on the before tune numbers.

my 2011 is not an auto, but for some reason they dyno strangely low torque numbers but top end hp is identical to manual cars. i think the dyno is being fooled by the converter lockup. you know gear ratio is calculated based on induction pick-up readings from a cylinder and roller speed.

there is probably a lockup sequence that causes the gear ratio to be incorrectly calculated and thus torque and hp numbers incorrectly calculated.

just my opinion. the tune may be fixing the lock up by keeping it from locking throughout the run. multiplication and torque converter slip magnifying the torque gains. my opinion is it gained top end.

if, in fact the gains are real, its going to make the auto cars bad-ass. its gonna be months before we can say what a 2011gt will make tuned.

usually on a dyno for any auto car you'll see a peak "jump" where the converter locks up that can even be higher than the actual peak power

The debate was if the 5.0 was in a higher state of tune than say the 5.7L Hemi or 6.2L LS3 since it almost matches HP and torque with less displacement. That isn't the case in the 400-450hp range that these engines operate from the factory. They all have plenty of potential power left from the the factory setups. There are certainly advantages to the extra displacement once the modding begins but by then all bets are off as there are so many ways to mod these engines.
