personally..........ive kind of had enough of an engine that doesn't make any serious power below 4k but rips at the track........im ready for a big thundering 6.2L pushrod that'll really scoot under moderate throttle, low rpm situations that are present in daily driving.
The stock 5.0 still matches your peak torque at 3,000 rpm's. Peak torque is right in the middle of the rpm range @ about 4,000 rpm. That's why it's geared "short." If it's your preference though to have great low end torque, pushrod + big displacement is the way to go unless we're talking forced induction.

2008 Shelby GT500 or a 2011 5.0

Do you think that I should trade my GT500 in for a 2011. It is practically the same quarter mile and it has a better 0-60

I wouldn't.
Take the money you'll save and build yours.

This!! The new cars only look good from the front, while yours looks good all the way around. Now, the interior in yours, IMHO, is a bit lacking and truck like.

Isn't yours already boosted? If so, I'd definitely keep that over the new one, at least until someone throws boost at the coyote and see how well it handles it!

Keep your GT500!! Eventually the 2011 GT will be just like any other GT on the road. How many people can say they have a GT500, regardless of what year it is?

I like the look of the new mustang better than the 05-09. The 05-09 looks really cheap and plastic-y. No bueno.

I like the more aggressive lines.

Keep yours. I'm in agreement with most of the other posters. Your car looks much more aggressive than the 2011 5.0 and should be easy to build onto.

Nice ride by the way!
