I would also advise trying for the Class A large cap. It allows rifles of course, but asking for a license to have a rifle- the good old FID card- means "please limit me"

Hey guys Need some advice
I own a Glock 17 & Mossberg 500 Tactical ( love both of them). Thinking of picking up one of the following guns ( keep in mind I live in CA) Glock 23 AR-15 45 ACP I need opinions. Thanks ! |

For fun, I would go with a nice 1911-style .45 ACP. I have a Colt Govt. model and it's a sweeeeet gun. AR's are a lot of fun, too, but the ammo is expensive. You know you're gonna buy them all eventually

First I need to know why you are considering those firearms; CA is a big place and it has cities and countryside so I am a fan of the 1911 pattern pistol as well but remember, when you buy a Glock, Glock made it. When you buy a 1911, dozens of manufacturers make them. Buying a '1911' is like buying a car. If you just pick any old car, that car might not work right. The 1911 is robust and simple. Maintenance is easy. I have heard people argue against that. They don't seem to understand the 1911 was a military pistol, and dummies are supposed to be able to maintain those. I own two Colt 1911 types, an original 1911 made in 1918 by Colt, and a Series 70 made in 1978 by Colt. Both are great range pistols although I shoot the 1918 pistol very infrequently; metallurgy and heat treating were not the same in 1918 as they were later in the century and the 1918 Colt has no hardened breechface so it can get peened. While I like Colts other makers make good 1911s too. But if you consider a 1911, read up on the Series 70 types and the Series 80 types. There are differences. That's not to say Glock doesn't make fine firearms, by the way. I don't subscribe to the "Glock or 1911, make your choice" newsletter.

As much as I love 1911s I'd say get an AR. You have a pistol and you have a shotgun, get a rifle!
