Maybe they'll throw this Monster in a Viper with a 405 width rear tire and claim the quarter mile record from everyone.

I mentioned this in another thread about the hellcat, when people(general public, car guy, bench racer, whoever) ask you if your car is fast, do you think they care or would even know if your lap times are fast or good? No, but you tell them you can hit 60 in X amount of seconds or you have no problems beating X car in a race, then they know its fast.
All depends on the crowd you associate with I guess. The Z/28 is a prime example of lap times over 1/4 mile...and last I checked they were selling pretty well even without normally standard equipment.

I won't knock the hellcat because it set the new standard for power. But just as the GT500 lost to the ZL1 in magazine reviews, the hellcat will do the same if it can't hook or turn.

ZL1 short 123hp, needs 703hp to = GT500

Where did SRT/Dodge release the official weight? Link?
All I have seen is estimated......

Manual vs manual, yes I do. The GT500 is 500lbs lighter and puts 600hp/600ft-lbs TO THE GROUND by way of a solid rear axle and 285's. Until we see what the Hellcat is ACTUALLY putting down, I have no reason to believe it will be faster than the 2013 GT500.

Manual ZL1's
Car&Driver: 0-60, 4.1sec; 1/4mile 12.3 @ 119mph; 4120lbs
MotorTrend: 0-60, 3.8sec; 1/4mile 12.1 @ 117.4mph; 4051lbs
Edmunds: 0-60, 4.1sec, 1/4mile 12.4 @ 116.0mph
Road&Track: 0-60, 3.9sec, 1/4mile 12.1 @ 119.9mph

GT500's
Car&Driver: 0-60, 3.5sec; 1/4mile 11.8 @ 125mph; 3891lbs
MotorTrend: 0-60, 3.8sec; 1/4mile 11.6 @ 125.7mph; 3871lbs
Motorweek: 0-60, 3.5sec, 1/4mile 11.7 @ 126.0mph
Edmunds: 0-60, 3.9sec, 1/4mile 12.1 @ 120.6mph; 3870lbs
Road&Track: 0-60, 3.5sec, 1/4mile 11.7 @ 128.1mph

You say no hero runs, and then you talk about the 392 going low 12's. Where are these low 12 runs? In the past, it has been nowhere near low 12's.

C&D: 0-60 in 4.5, 12.9 1/4mile at 114mph, 4203lbs
MotorTrend: 0-60 in 4.6, 13.0 1/4mile at 111.3mph, 4260lbs
Edmunds: 0-60 in 4.7, 12.9 1/4mile at 111.0mph, 4257lbs
Edmunds: 0-60 in 4.5, 12.6 1/4mile at 112.1mph, 4257lbs

An extra 15hp is going to drop the E.T. from 12.85 to 12.2?

that is with 470-580-662 hp
And if you look at MotorTrend the Challenger was 0.9 seconds slower than the ZL1, and 1.4 seconds slower than the GT500 with 470-580-662 hp. See, I can cherry pick too.

Also true. Pretty much everybody I hang around with and talk cars with could care less about lap times. As long as it can be fun to get out on twisty roads is about as much they care about handling.

Look at teh trap speeds. Nothing else. A good driver or better traction can change the ET's, but power-to-weight is what creates traps.

Why do you see large differences in traps? Density Altitude can be a huge factor in power.

The SRT-8 is not even the same ballpark with ZL1 or GT500. They brought a tennis rack to play rugby.

Just from the info posted here the Power to weight of the Mustang is the best followed by the Hellcat and then the Chevy did I miss something

You can't always trust advertised HP.

Some cars are detuned in lower gears.
Some mfr's are mf's - they fib about HP.
Area under the curve is NOT peak HP.

All these it can't "turn" comments...lol I guess I should strictly drive my Camaro SS and never drive my SRT because I might encounter a challenge to race in a circle....Never happened since I have been racing starting in 1987.... Don't get me wrong I have been on a road course before and more power to the people that like that, but the majority care about straight line acceleration.. Ford put line lock in the 15 Mustang, when does that get used on a road course? 99% percent of you tube videos are from a dig, roll or 1/4 mile track and very few road courses.
