That is a good point...but let's be honest...the new 5.0 is fast as all get out and DOES run damn near even (possibly even slightly faster) with the new SS...Ford did a magnificent job with the new 5.0 to get it to really be a fierce competition in the Muscle car world (took them long enough ha ha that 4.6 motor was only good when it was boosted)

I think the only track times we've gotten period so far are from performance shops. Very few have been delivered.

Gearing, gearing gearing. Put some different gears on the Camaro, any you're right back in the race. Plus, don't forget street driving. High-revvers are alot less fun to drive on the street every day, so I don't care what the 1/4 mile time on the new Stang is. I read they have to cross the 1/4 line in 4th, and that tells me all I need to know. If I wanted a track car only, I might swing to the Stang, but for a DD I still think the Camaro will own the trophy.

the thing that gets me is the times its running modded, 5.0s with bolt ons are running what big displacement forced induction heavily modded ss's are running
the truth is that the camaro "is" a fat pig albeit a pretty one and the irs sucks for us drag racers

are there any good mustang forums? I'll be honest. I want a new 2011 GT, but the mustang forums suck. I think the reason so many mustang guys troll over here are because there are no decent mustang forums. Camaro forums seem to be massively better. Please point me in the right direction.
p.s. Camaro guys please stop the 'drivers race' and 'performance shop' meme's and arguments. The truth is that ford has produced a better product. Camaro enthusiasts should insist that GM respond rather than sound like the mustang guys did about the 2010 model year mustangs. Right now, the Camaro wins on looks alone. Performance goes to the mustang.

Here's a list of Mustang forums I check now & then: http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/ind...y-gt500-forum/ http://www.fordgt500.com/forums/index.php http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/shelby-gt500-150/ http://saacforum.com http://www.modularfords.com/forums/forum.php http://www.blackmustangclub.com/content/forum.php http://www.imboc.com/forums/index.php http://forums.themustangsource.com/ http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/ http://4.0collective.com/ http://mustangforums.com/ Not all are necessarily specific to 2011 discussion, but most do talk about them... I'm sure there are plenty more, but I've found good info. at a few of the above.

However, despite what RobH said, I think it is a driver's race, an extremely close one. There does seem to be a very slight edge to the mustang though. |

![]() oh and if anyone wonders I'm back into a Ls1 fbod for now, I will pick up another 5th gen when the prices fall into the teens , the corvette tax on parts fades away and when someone can figure out how to run decent times without $20,000 in mods

Agree with that one. I like the fact that the SRT8 is not neutered with the Auto option......

As for the performance shop comment I was referring to what ViperTomCat said about real world drivers not hitting 12's in the SS while "real world" drivers were doing it in the GT. However, I'd argue that CURRENTLY it's the exact opposite, but in no way am I saying that real drivers won't hit those numbers. |
